UFC Fight Night 63 Medical Suspensions: Poirier Receives 60 Days

UFC Fight Night 63 went down this past weekend (April 4, 2015) from the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. It was a great night of fights featuring some explosive finishes, especially in the main event where No. 1-ranked featherweight Chad “Money” Mendes smashed Ricardo Lamas to score a first-round knockout victory.

From top to bottom the card was entertaining, and luckily for the UFC the majority of the fighters walked away unscathed. Today (April 6, 2015) the UFC Fight Night 63 medical suspensions were released from the Virginia Boxing, MMA, and Wrestling Advisory Board (via MMAJunkie).

Only four fighters on the card received suspensions, and they weren’t very lengthy, which is another plus for the UFC. Ironically, Dustin Poirier, who scored an impressive first-round knockout to open up the main card, endured the longest suspension, a 60-day time slot on the shelf. Officials did not release the reason for Poirier’s suspension however. This may be a problem for “The Diamond” who expressed his interest to compete in June when the UFC heads to his home of Louisiana.

  • Dustin Poirier: suspended 60 days
