UFC Boston Free Fights: McGregor vs Poirier & Henderson vs Cerrone

UFC Fight Night 59 goes down this coming Sunday (January 18th, 2015) with a thoroughly awesome looking main card to offer. The top two fights feature some household names in the world of MMA, and the co-main event has history dating back to circa 2009. In anticipation of UFC Boston, the promotion has released some free fights for us to enjoy:

Benson Henderson vs Donald Cerrone 1

Back in the days of the WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) Donald Cerrone and Benson Henderson me at a crossroads in their careers. Both were 10-1 prospects, hoping to make their name go global, as they competed for the interim lightweight title at WEC 43. What transpired was an epic five round battle, often referred to as th greatest fight in the promotion’s history.

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier

A little fresher in our memories is a main card attraction from UFC 178, this past September 27th, 2014. Irish featherweight sensation Conor McGregor stepped up to face his first top 10 opponent, following a fierce rivalry against divisional staple Dustin Poirier. “”Diamond” vowed to hush the brash contender for the American audiences, but it proved to be a tough night for the American Top Team product.

Merely one minute in to the bout, and it was obvious that “The Notorious” had too much for Poirier to handle.
