Former Strikeforce title challenger Tyron Woodley got himself back to winning ways this weekend with a first round knockout over Dong Hyun Kim in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 48. Now, just a few days after his spectacular win, Woodley has expressed who he would like to fight next:

“A fight against Matt Brown seems most interesting,” Woodley told MMAFighting.com. “Fans want it. He has a ton of heart and is tough as nails.”

Brown, who most recently fought in July losing a unanimous decision to Robbie Lawler, is currently unbooked following his five-round war in San Jose. “T-Wood” thinks the fight makes sense given the current landscape of the welterweight division.

“Really looking at the landscape of the division, this fight stood out first. Granted it’s one of the toughest fights, but it’s a good match-up, people love him, he was a fight away from a title shot, ranked fifth, and fans would flip. I feel like he will bring the best out of me and test my limits. I respect him as a fighter and feel fighting him makes the most since for my career.”

If he was able to pull off a win over “The Immortal”, Woodley would no doubt shoot himself back into title contention. Keeping that in mind, “The Chosen One” said if the fight happened; he would like it to be a co-main event on the same card as the Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler rematch.

“I would also like to do this whenever they have Johny Hendricks vs Robbie Lawler 2 and have it be the co-main event. That way there isn’t a stagger on when we all compete and run into the problem of people already being paired up, injured, or a won-loss formula doesn’t work.

“Plus, having the title bout after my fight has always made me send a message that I’m coming for you. I’ll get up for this one.”

Woodley vs. Brown is a great match up but with “The Immortal” coming off a loss it’s unlikely the UFC would pair the two up. However, with the rest of the division either booked to fight or injured the UFC might not have another option.
