Twitter Blows Up Over Anthony Pettis’ Epic Win Over Ben Henderson

Newly minted UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis has a lot to celebrate about today because beat Ben Henderson again last night, locking up his second major 155 lb. belt in the process. Although Pettis apparently injured his knee while fighting Henderson, “Showtime” will be presented with potentially great fights throughout the foreseeable future.

But back to tonight, Pettis’ fellow fighting peers took to twitter to voice their congratulations, opinions, surprise, a bit of everything really. It was spectrum of emotions surrounding Pettis’ epic victory last night. The man who Pettis replaced, TJ Grant, was quick to give congrats and stake his own claim at a title shot:

A winner over Donald Cerrone at this week’s UFC Fight Night 27 from Indianapolis, rising Brazilian Lightweight Rafael dos Anjos had his mind on the same thing as Grant:

Would he be ready for Pettis at this point? Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson simpy had major props for the victorious ‘Showtime,’ who stopped Henderson from breaking BJ Penn‘s Lightweight title defense record (something that Nelson pointed out):

An impressive winner himself at UFC Fight Night 27, former interim UF Welterweight champ Carlos Condit expressed his surprise at the submission win:

Condit vs. Pettis anyone? Just kidding….kind of. Anyway, and finally, Urijah Faber had nothing but high praise for the new champion, ackknowledging the struggles that Pettis had to go through in order to get to this point:

Should Anthony Pettis face off with Either Grant or dos Anjos in the near future, or is a long-awaited bout with Jose Aldo becoming too enticing to turn down? It’s only speculation because both Pettis and Aldo are injured at this point. Let us know your thoughts on the insane victory tonight and where you think the UFC Lightweight division is headed!!!
