Tony Ferguson Submits Edson Barboza In Wild Affair

In a highly anticipated lightweight bout amongst hardcore mixed martial arts (MMA) enthusiasts, Edson Barboza (16-4) met inside the Octagon with Tony Ferguson (20-3) at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale. The bout lived up to the hype.

The two fighters immediately traded punches and kicks. Ferguson rolled down for a leg lock. Barboza was stunned with an illegal kick to the head of a downed opponent. A doctor stepped inside the Octagon to check on Barboza and he was ready to go. “El Cucuy” was deducted one point and the bout resumed.

Barboza landed a jab, but was popped with a right hand. Barboza landed an uppercut to the body. The Brazilian caught a leg and tripped his opponent to the mat briefly. Ferguson blocked a spinning heel kick. A spinning back kick to the body found the mark for Barboza. Round one came to a close with both men tied up.

A stiff kick lands for Barboza, but “El Cucuy” answers with his own kick. A cut formed on Barboza’s face from an elbow. The Brazilian’s face was starting to look like a crimson mask. Barboza landed a flush right hand. Ferguson threw a spinning back elbow. The two engaged in a scramble, which led to “El Cucuy” locking in a D’Arce Choke. Ferguson got the submission.
