Just mere moments after No. 2-ranked UFC middleweight Vitor Belfort was granted a license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) after his well-documented rollercoaster of hold-ups concerning the controversial and banned testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT), “The Phenom” has his long-rumored bout with middleweight champion Chris Weidman lined up. Weidman and Belfort will go to war in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event of UFC 181 on December 6, 2014, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center...

Controversial ex-UFC light-heavy and middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen made a rather ungraceful and abrupt exit from the sport this year; after failing tests for hCG, EPO, HGH, Anastrozole and Clomephine, 'The American Gangster' retired from active fighting, and was fired from his job as Fox analyst. Joining Chael P on the growing list of fighters failing drug tests is Vitor Belfort, who ties in with Wanderlei Silva to make a trio that wreaked havoc on UFC matchmakers earlier in the year. After a...

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson made a big comeback to the UFC in 2013 with a massive TKO win over Nate Diaz at UFC on Fox 7. The victory confirmed that 'Punk' could hang at the top level, and set him up with a UFC on Fox 10 bout with former champion Ben Henderson. Unfortunately for Thomson, the fight didn't go his way, and he lost a decision to 'Smooth' this past January. Now scheduled to face Bobby Green, in replacement of Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox 12, 'Punk' could well find himself...

Alistair Overeem's 2-2 record in the UFC isn't really a reflection of the hype that the Dutch kickboxer brought with him to the promotion back in 2011. At that time, 'The Reem' was undefeated in four years, and was fresh off knocking out Peter Aerts to win the K-1 World GP. Up until 2007, Overeem had fought mainly overseas as a light-heavyweight. Also quite derogatory to Overeem's reputation was his failed drugs test for the UFC, and the resulting 14-month ansence from the sport had a big impact on his performances....

Matt “The Immortal Brown” has been on a collision course with a welterweight title shot for nearly two-and-a-half-years. Beginning in February of 2012 at UFC 143, the 33-year-old Ohio native has banged off seven consecutive victories, winning all but one by way of T/KO stoppage, and now sits one win away from a chance at 170-pound championship glory.  Currently ranked No. 5 in the division, Brown is set to face No. 2 ranked Robbie Lawler at this coming weekend’s (July 26, 2014) UFC...

After Conor McGregor’s one-sided TKO victory over Diego Brandao in the main event of UFC Fight Night 46 from Dublin’s O2 Arena this past Saturday (July 19, 2014), speculation soon shifted as to just whom “Notorious’s” next opponent would be. No. 6-ranked Dustin Poirier was quick to sign on to face the outspoken McGregor, voicing his readiness on Twitter and volunteering his skills for the stacked UFC 178 card on September 27 from Las Vegas. It was a fight that most felt had to...

Out of his action since his UFC 156 upset win over former champion Rashad Evans, UFC light heavyweight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has earned quite the negative reputation as a combatant who frequently pulls out of fights due to injury. He most recently cited a nagging back injury as a reason to withdraw from his rumored UFC Fight Night 37 headliner against Alexander Gustafsson this year, a fight he previously was forced out of prior to UFC on Fuel TV 2 in early 2012. Add that to the cancellation of his UFC...

After neutralizing Michael Bisping in the main event of April’s The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Nations Finale, No. 6-ranked UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy signed on to face bulldozing Olympic silver medalist wrestler Yoel Romero at the stacked UFC 178 pay-per-view (PPV) card on September 27 from Las Vegas. Defeating “Soldier of God” would most likely earn Kennedy an absolutely huge fight, perhaps against Luke Rockhold or even Vitor Belfort, depending on how “The Phenom’s” licensing...

A mere 20 minutes after signing on for a blockbuster UFC 178 bout with Donald Cerrone last Friday, No. 4-ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov saw his biggest fight ever disappear before it started, blowing out his knee and forcing him to the sidelines for the time being. While UFC President said that “The Eagle” had “blown out his knee,” news comes today that while Nurmagomedov’s injury will require surgery, he did not tear his ACL or any of the major ligaments in his knee. According...

UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks joined the list of the injured UFC elite when he had to undergo bicep surgery after winning the title against Robbie Lawler at UFC 171. 'Bigg Rigg' tore his right bicep before winning the vacant title against 'Ruthless' this past March, which made his win all the more impressive. The thoughts of Hendricks' controversial split decision loss against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 167 still haven't gone completely, in fact 'Bigg Rigg' still seems to have the former welterweight...

This past weekend (July 19, 2014), the UFC took its show on the road to Dublin, Ireland, for an epic night of Fight Pass streamed bouts. Truly, the UFC Fight Night (UFN) 46: McGregor vs. Brandao was a great event and one that saw the hometown Irish fighters go 4 – 0 on the evening, while the card as a whole delivered seven finishes out of ten matches. To say the least, the show was worth the monthly $10 Fight Pass subscription. With the event now recorded, the UFC has adjusted their division rankings...

‘Semtex’ Blows Up With New Bellator Contract

Posted on July 21, 2014, 06:17 PM by Brian Cox
As was announced by the promotion today (July 21, 2014), Bellator MMA has resigned Paul “Semtex” Daley. The 31-year-old British fighter originally contracted with BMMA in July of 2012; however, the promotion released him a year later due to his legal difficulties stemming from an assault charge in England. However, with the issue now settled – Daley pled guilty to the charges in exchange for no jail time – Bellator’s new CEO, Scott Coker, has decided to give “Semtex”...

UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis has been sidelined since his epic title win back at UFC 164 in Milwaukee last year; 'Showtime' snatched the belt from old foe Benson Henderson with a fantastic first round armbar, but that was way back in August and now he awaits a comeback title defense against Gilbert Melendez. That fight was originally scheduled for UFC 182 on January 3, 2015, but Pettis appeared on today's The MMA Hour to proclaim that he will now be fighting Melendez before the end of the year: "That's...

UFC Fight Night 46 went down in Dublin, Ireland this past Saturday (July 19, 2014) and delivered in a big way all round. The home town favorites were all party to huge wins, the crowd was absolutely electrifying, and the event was a smash hit for numbers. The live gate was huge, and Dana White said that the event was the biggest Fight Pass show to date. With PPV-style numbers in attendance, it seems that Fight Night 46 was the best event Ireland has ever seen. In fact, it broke yet another record; the show...
