This coming Friday night (September 5, 2014) the UFC will roll into the East Coast for UFC Fight Night 50 from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut. Stacked up with a long list of potentially entertaining bouts, the event features a pivotal middleweight main event between No. 4-ranked Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and No. 7-ranked Gegard Mousasi. Both fighters are former Strikeforce champions looking to rise up in one of the toughest divisions in the UFC, and both are well-rounded, dangerous...

Renan Barao's fall from grace in 2014 has been sudden and rather surprising. Against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 173, Barao lost his title in the biggest upset of 2014 so far. He was dominated throughout the fight, and finally finished in round five. This was just the start of the now former bantamweight champion woes. After such an impressive streak, having been unbeaten in 33 fights, the Brazilian Nova Uniao fighter was offered an instant rematch. UFC 177 was the date, and “Baron” would get his chance...

Posted on August 24, 2014, 01:32 PM by Buster Evans
The UFC returned with another duo event this weekend as UFC Fight Night 48: Bisping vs. Lee in Macao followed by Fight Night 49: Henderson vs. Dos Anjos in Tulsa both went down. UFN 48 took place in the Cotai Arena and was the UFC's third trip to Macao, China. In the main event TUF 3 winner Michael Bisping took out former Strikeforce champion Cung Le with a vicious fourth round stoppage after battering the 42-year old for the entire fight. Later on in the day we saw UFN 49 go down from the BOK Center in Tulsa,...

POLL: Will Eddie Alvarez Become A UFC Champion?

Posted on August 21, 2014, 05:47 AM by Buster Evans
News broke earlier this week that Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez had signed with the UFC after receiving his unconditional release from Bellator head Scott Coker. The news came out of the blue and excited fans to say the least. "The Silent Assassin" is now scheduled to meet Donald Cerrone in the co-main event of UFC 178 where he will look to certify himself as one of the best lightweight fighters in the world. If he's victorious against "Cowboy" he will shoot himself right into title contention,...

Despite not having won a world championship, Ryan Bader is unquestionably one of the best fighters to have emerged from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series. The winner of TUF season 9 is now a UFC veteran with fifteen appearances in the promotion to his name, holding a respectable record of 11-4 inside the Octagon. He's proven himself to be one of the light-heavyweight division's best with wins over former champions and dangerous completion. However, he's never been able to get past the "light-heavyweight elite"...

POLL: Who Do You Think Should Fight Jon Jones Next?

Posted on August 13, 2014, 02:25 AM by Rory Kernaghan
With the recent news that Jon Jones was injured and has withdrawn from his UFC 178 bout against Daniel Cormier, the MMA world is once again hit with a tricky situation at the top of the UFC light-heavyweight division. Alexander Gustafsson was quick to jump at the chance, and called for his spot at UFC 182 opposite “Bones”. “DC” was originally put in as a replacement for “The Mauler” when he was scratched due to a leg injury of his own, now he feels he should be given primacy...

Former UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight title contender Chael Sonnen came up short last night in his Metamoris debut against Andre Galvao, getting submitted by the Brazilian jiu-jitsu standout with a rear naked choke. Not many people gave "The American Gangster" much chance of winning with him facing such a dangerous opponent. However, Sonnen's high-level wrestling background did leave people to think he had a fighting chance of grinding out a draw with Galvao. As we seen, that was not to be the case. With...

Chael Sonnen is set to try his hand at submission-only fighting tonight for a second time in his career when he takes on Brazilian jiu-jitsu standout Andre Galvao in the main event of Metamoris 4. The bout will be Sonnen's first form of competition since losing a first round TKO to former light-heavyweight champion "Suga" Rashad Evans at UFC 167 in November last year. He hits the mats for the first time following his retirement from MMA due to his multiple failed drug tests. He faces a huge test tonight when...

The ongoing feud between light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier reached fever pitch this week, first there was the impromptu brawl between the two at the UFC 178 media day, then the back-and-forth over social media, followed by a 'heart felt' apology on Sportscenter, and finally with a 'hot mic' out take of the two exchanging venomous insults. With the fight over a month away from transpiring, it seems the hype behind Jones vs Cormier is unlike any we've seen in a long time. Comparisons...

UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and arch nemesis Daniel Cormier were involved in one of the most sensational and controversial happenings of 2014 so far, as they brawled at the UFC 178 media day in Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday. The impromptu punch-up sparked a worldwide debate among us MMA fans, and provided much excitement on an otherwise mundane Monday. PPV sales were likely given a huge boost by the public bust up between 'Bones' and 'DC', but the UFC code of conduct could cause more trouble for...

It’s no secret that the UFC welterweight division is one of, if not the, most stacked divisions in all of MMA. With a veritable murderer’s row throughout the Top 10 rankings, the 170-pound arena is full of new and exciting possibilities with each passing fight. And a lot of that is obviously due to formerly dominant champion Georges St. Pierre’s absence from the Octagon. He may return, but for now (and perhaps even if he does), many feel that the belt will be up for grabs in the near future. The...

On SuperBowl weekend two MMA legends are set to step into the Octagon to face off in what is expected to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history. The MMA world received some blockbuster news last night (July 29, 2014) when it was announced that longtime former middleweight champion Anderson Silva would be returning to the Octagon to face fellow absentee Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 183 on January 15, 2014. Silva has been out of action since breaking his leg against Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 168 last December.
