Ronda Rousey UFC 170 Open Workout: ‘Rowdy’ Won’t Be Leaving MMA Anytime Soon

Ronda Rousey mean mug

UFC Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey had been talking a lot in early 2013 about retiring from MMA and taking up a job in acting. The WMMA pioneer has already scored roles in Fast and Furious 7 and The Expendables 3, and even dabbled in modelling. Her sentiments changed in the summer of last year, but there was still doubt for fans of Women’s 135-pound queen.

While on a media tour for her upcoming UFC 170 scrap with Sara McMann, Rousey detailed the plans for her immediate future in relation to acting roles and the UFC. She backs up her retraction of retiring in two years, and reaffirms her love for the sport during a recent media scrum after her open workout for UFC 170:

“Well, I’m a fighter, I enjoy fighting, I was doing judo for a decade and a half for pretty much no money. If money was what was really important for me, I might be a stockbroker right now. I just want to have enough money to be able to enjoy what I enjoy for a living. Right now the main thing I enjoy is fighting.”

Rousey’s most recent showing was a dominating third round armbar victory in her second bout with Miesha Tate. Her performance at UFC 168 earned FOTN and SOTN honors, and seems to have relit the fire under ‘Rowdy’. Some described Rousey’s promotional debut against Liz Carmouche as ‘shakey’, although she did put the Urijah Faber look-a-like away with a first round submission win.

A win against McMann at 170 would extend Rousey’s record to 9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC and would confirm the general consensus that there isn’t anyone in the UFC with the tools to take ‘Rowdy’ out. Check out Rousey’s full UFC 170 open workout, courtesy of MMA Heat, and stay tuned to LowKick.com!
