Report: Georges St-Pierre Is Being Sued For Millions By Ex-Manager

5672081910 a436fb6061 oControversy surrounding George St-Pierre’s win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 has owned MMA media since the bout was (perhaps) wrongly scored in his favor. Rumours also swirled of GSP’s retirement after he hinted towards a step away from the sport which he has dominated for so long.

Personal issues were the reason given for St-Pierre’s earth shattering reveal post UFC 167, and gossip sites spread the word that his aging father’s health and a pregnant mistress led to his post fight announcements. Such rumours have since been shot down, yet we are left wondering about GSP’s motives.

One contributing factor, according to St-Pierre’s ex manager Stephane Patry, could be a lawsuit that ‘Rush’ is embroiled in. Check out what Patry said while on Canada’s 98.5 FM Sports:

“The only thing that I can think of, that I know of, is that between the period where I was his manager and his current management, he had a manager for three years, a woman named Shari Spencer. It didn’t end well between them. When things ended between me and Georges, we stayed good friends but it ended very badly with Shari Spencer and I know she’s suing him for several million dollars.

”I don’t know if the lawsuit is advancing against Georges and he’s gonna lose it but I don’t see another problem. His parents are in good health, his two sisters too and he doesn’t have health problems otherwise he couldn’t fight. The only thing I can see is the lawsuit with his former manager.”

Legal battles are probably the worst thing to have on your mind while preparing for a big moment in your life, let alone a headlining title fight against a heavy-handed, hungry challenger like Johny Hendricks.

Could St-Pierre’s lawsuit with his former manager have contributed to his lacklustre performance at UFC 167? We know that St-Pierre has shown cracks in the past, but he was bested in every department when he fought ‘Bigg Rigg’; something that GSP fans are not used to seeing.

If the lawsuit is a protracted one, surely an interim champion is going to be essential to keep the division legitimate in GSP’s absence. It would also (perhaps) give Hendricks a chance to remain active while waiting for his (hopefully) imminent rematch.
