The impact of Robbie Lawler’s razor-thin split decision victory over Carlos Condit in the main event of last night’s (Sat., January 2, 2015) UFC 195 form the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, is still resonating with MMA fans today, as many believe ‘The Natural Born Killer’ did more than enough to win.

It was certainly an ultra-close bout where Condit landed many more strikes, but numbers don’t always tell the tale of an entire bout. As he’s known for, Lawler came out like a true champion in the fifth round and nearly finished the amazingly resilient Condit with a nonstop barrage of power strikes in a frame that no doubt won him the fight.

Now there’s talk of a pending rematch between the two top-ranked welterweights, but others want to see the division move on from the endless immediate rematches that they feel have slowed the sport in recent years. It’s a very interesting discussion, as fighters who have been much less deserving than Condit have certainly gotten an immediate title shot right after losing.
