Junior Dos Santos: I See Things Better Than I Did Before

Former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is hungry to get the belt back after relinquishing it to Cain Velasquez in a one-sided five round affair at UFC 155. ‘Cigano’ got back on track by defeating Mark Hunt with a vicious spinning heel kick at UFC 160, and Velasquez defended his belt at the same card by stopping Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva via strikes for the second time.

It’s been inevitable that their paths would cross for a third time, and ‘Cigano’ will get his chance at redemption in the main event of October 19’s UFC 166 from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. Dos Santos has proved that he can knock Velasquez out before. He appeared in a new interview from the UFC to insist that his already lethal striking has become even better:

“I wanna become champion again. I don’t think he’s the number one. It would be amazing to knock him out again. It was good to be the first guy to beat him, it’s gonna be even better to beat him again. I can see things better now than I did before. He’s the guy that I wanna beat now, I’m gonna be very prepared for this one. It’s gonna be good.”

This promises to be one of the most hotly contested rubber matches in UFC history. The winner could definitely make a claim for being the finest Heavyweight in UFC history. There’s not a lot of doubt that Dos Santos and Velasquez are head-and-shoulders above the rest of the 265-pound arena in the UFC, and this may not be the last time they fight.

Either way, it promises to be a war. ‘Cigano’ will be eager to prove that last year’s destruction was a fluke, but Velasquez is a machine who was reportedly far from healthy the first time they fought at UFC On FOX 1. Dos Santos had his own injuries at that time too, so it’s going to be a tough one to predict. Dos Santos has the power to knock out any fighter in the world. But can he find an opening to land a power shot on the tough-as-nails Velasquez?

  • I see a replay of the second fight.. GO CAIN!!!

    • Agreed and new glasses aren't going to help.

  • Light Heavy weight??? naaah

  • Whoop him with a Cane Pole JDS!

  • ^ 😉

  • Guess I'm just so used to writing about the LHW belt recently

  • JDS said he watched the 2nd fight several times, we'll see if he learned something!

JDS by KO in the second round!!

  • War Cain….2nd round submission… or TKO… And Still…..

  • Junior Dos Santos: I See Things Better Than I Did Before…

pfffff…You'll see A$$ Whopping coming your way soon…

    Cain > JDS

  • I'm going with Cain on this one, but I won't be surprised if Cain would get knocked the fcuk out, cause JDS got some fcuking power man, such a fan of both men, just excited about the fight, and sided a little tiny bit on Cain cause my horoscope said so.

  • The 1st fight KO was more a fluke than the thrashing Cain gave JDS in the rematch as Cain was coming off a long lay off.
JDS can watch the 2nd fight all he wants but he can't do nothing when Cain goes for the take down.

  • In the first fight, Junior showed that he has a puncher's chance, and that's just about all he has. There is no way he can match Cain in a high tempo war pace for pace for 5 rounds.
