Joanna Jedrzejczyk Believes She Can Break Major UFC Title Record

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has a big goal in mind going into her fight at UFC 217.

Jedrzejczyk is attempting to tie former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey’s UFC record six consecutive title defenses for a female champion.

She is slated to defend her title against top contender Rose Namajunas on the main card of UFC 217 PPV (pay-per-view) event, which is set to take place on Saturday, November 4th in New York at Madison Square Garden.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6:30 p.m. ET.

It appears that Rousey’s days as an MMA fighter are over following her stint of dominance during her prime which was impressive. On the flip side, Jedrzejczyk has done things her way during her title reign.

Now, she needs to add one more to the win column at UFC 217 to tie Rousey’s record. If she can do that and then win another fight, she believes that she’ll take sole possession of the record.

“I’m ready to put on a great fight on Saturday,” Jedrzejczyk said to MMA Junkie at today’s UFC 217 open workouts. “Believe me, I will tie Ronda Rousey’s record (and then) break the record of seven title fights in the women’s division.”

By looking at the early betting odds, Jedrzejczyk enters UFC 217 as a sizable 6-1 betting favorite.

“I don’t give up,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I never give up. I’m ready. I was born ready.”
