Hector Lombard Officially Changes His Nickname To “Showeather”

Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard had a rude awakening when he joined the UFC back in 2012, losing a split decision to Tim Boetsch and ending a six-year & 25-fight unbeaten streak. A follow up KO win over Rousimar Palhares was a short lived victory, as he was once again decisioned, this time by Yushin “Thunder” Okami.

Putting together his first two fight streak for the UFC, “Lightning” went on to KO Nate Marquardt and batter Jake Shields over three rounds at UFC 166 & 171 respectively. Withdrawing from his UFC Fight Night 48 bout against Dong Hyun Kim due to injury, it appears the Cuban slugger has had some time to take stock, and he announced a change of his nickname via his Facebook account:

“Showeather” was forced from his booking in Macau this weekend due to a herniated cervical disc, and replaced by former Strikeforce stand out Tyron Woodley. Perhaps the change in moniker is symbolic of Lombard’s new mindset about fighting. The news that dropped to welterweight certainly added an interesting twist to the already dangerous division.

One criticism of Lombard at middleweight was he may have been too small, but his time at 170 pounds so far has been impressive to say the least. He currently fills the No. 6 spot on the official rankings. Any thoughts on who will be chosen to welcome “Showeather” back from injury?
