GSP predicts a finish over Nick Diaz at UFC 158

Following yesterday's intense staredown at the UFC 158's weigh-ins, UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre spoke with Ariel Helwani of Fuel TV. He appeared to remain calm while addressing the heated moment that saw Dana White separate the two fighters.

GSP focuses on it as just another fight, and says that he has felt this way about a bout many times before. But that remains to be seen, as the hype and build up to this event have seemed to progress like no other before.

St-Pierre closes out the interview by stating that he predicts a KO or submission finish over Diaz in tonight's main event. Will that be the case?

Sorry P4P. Didn't mean to make you feel awkward. I was just enjoying the competition and fan debate. If you're okay with it - the bet is on.

George is a great fighter......but he isn't fighting Ken Shamrock. It will be a 25 min fight or a early KO by Diaz.

It's going to be Cain vs JDS II, all over again with GSP playing the role of Cain and Diaz playing the role of JDS.

diaz may not have fought somebody on GSP's level but if people like cyborg, daley and robbie lawler couldnt finish him with seriously hard hits then i doubt georges will. Nick doesnt care about winning rounds hes a finisher so expect him to be fighting off his back keeping georges working. i can only see GSP winning by decision

Michael, you are high bro. I respect your opinion on most things but there is no way George is dominating Diaz the way Cain dominated JDS. It is either going to be lay and pray or a well fought UD. I don't see Diaz winning but he is too dangerous for GSP to go all out on the ground and he striking is to the point that the stand up should be a back and forth war.

He says he will get it if he can, as all fighters think.

He went for it on Condit but he never got it and it will probably be the same tonight with an equally tough opponent.

He had Condit hurt several times and everytime he did, he took him down, he is too scare to go for the finish. The only way he will finish Diaz is going to be if he cuts him, if he goes for a submission he is going to ended up submitted.

He choses not to finish in my opinion, and if he does it again it is going to pay for it Diaz can find a way to win in 25 min.

We're used to your great predictions already, Georges, don't worry.

Post-fight press conference interview with Georges. If he does indeed win.

Reporter: Georges, why do you think you were unable to finish Nick Diaz tonight?

Georges: I'm disappointed in myself for not finishing Nick tonight, but I promise I'll be a better fighter next time. My UFC carrere (career - that is) has been great so far.

Yep, same old **** just a different day.

I totally agree. However, they couldn't do it in Stockton because the junkyard where they do their tractor pull shows only seats 250 people and 30 dogs (with a 60 lb. limit for each canine.)

It's just pure B.S in opinion, but I guess having him fight in Canada makes the UFC a lot of money.

In almost 40 fights, Diaz has only been legitimately TKO'd once (TEN years ago) and has never been subbed. Moreover, GSP is a decision-er, not a finisher. What this all adds up to is a takedown and dry h u m p i n g clinic put on by the champion. Diaz beats "hitters" (as he calls them) by beating them in the standup and then subbing them when they go for broke (Paul Daley, Cyborg, et al.) Condit didn't make that mistake. He played a Machida style "touch and run" point fighting fight and "earned" an awful decision. GSP's plan will be to do much the same, it's that simple.

I still think that after all the hype, that The Undertaker will prevail at Wrestlemania, and remain undefeated at Wrestlemania until his retirement.
