Dana White Says Potential Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo Bout Will Be In Vegas

UFC Fight Night 59 is set to go down tonight (January 18, 2015) live on Fox Sports 1 from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The main event features Irish superstar and rising featherweight “The Notorious” Conor McGregor against No. 10-ranked German kickboxer Dennis Siver.

Many are calling this a squash match for McGregor, and many believe that “The Notorious” is just on another level than Siver. Although this may not be the Irish Bad Boy’s toughest opponent, it may be his most pivotal matchup as he has been guaranteed a featherweight title shot with a win over Siver.

After only four fights in the UFC, there is no question that McGregor is a true superstar, possessing charisma and finishing ability that fans can’t get enough of. “The Notorious” one’s success so far has turned into pure dollar signs for the UFC and McGregor constantly talks about selling out a 90,000 seat football stadium in Ireland for the potential title fight.

The UFC has also agreed that potential landing spots for the potential blockbuster bout included Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland as well as Las Vegas or a soccer stadium in Brazil. However, it looks as if Dana White has announced some unfortunate news for McGregor and the Irish faithful.

Talking in an interview yesterday (January 17, 2015) at TD Garden during a Celtics game, White confirmed that if McGregor takes out Siver, he will indeed take on Aldo for the belt and it will take place in neither Ireland or Brazil, but Las Vegas, the fighting capital of the world:

“If Conor McGregor wins on Sunday he fights Jose Aldo, who hasn’t lost a fight in nine years. They’ll fight for the title. That one’s going to be in Vegas,” White told the Celtics TV channel.

It may come as a surprise that the potential featherweight showdown will not take place in either man’s homeland, but the fight will undoubtedly be super successful in Las Vegas. Will McGregor get passed Siver and earn his coveted title shot, or will the German spoil his plans?
