Countdown To Metamoris 4: Chael Sonnen vs. Andre Galvao

MMA veteran Chael Sonnen created a media windfall by failing two NSAC-mandated drug tests before his ruined UFC 175 bout with Wanderlei Silva (or Vitor Belfort, it doesn’t really matter at this point), prompting him into an early retirement after his beloved testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) was banned earlier this year.

“The American Gangster” was also axed from his solid position as UFC on FOX analyst, basically signaling the end of his Octagon tenure.

But that doesn’t mean that Sonnen will be out of action completely. He’s still set to take on noted Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Andre Galvao at Metamoris 4 on August 9. Sonnen is much more known for his wrestling background than for his jiu-jitsu pedigree, but he does train with noted mat wizard Vinny Magalhaes.

If nothing else, his clash with Galvao will be an interesting one to watch, provided it isn’t plagued by more drug testing nonsense. Metamoris released a very solid Countdown video for the upcoming event. Check it out below:

  • how is he allowed to compete there, when he is full of banned substances!?

    • Because Galvao is too. And Metamoris is smart and they need to make money.

  • Meta-WHAT??? Good to see Chael didn't break his neck from that fall from glory.

  • "when you the most drug filled fighter in the world, they don't call you a cheater.. They call you Chael Sonnen.. Catch me.. If you can!!
