Chris Holdsworth: I’m Just Going To Work My Hardest To Become A Complete Fighter

Chris Holdsworth completed an undefeated 3-0 run on The Ultimate Fighter Season 18 with a second round submission over Davey Grant at last night’s TUF 18 Finale in Las Vegas. The victory marked his third submission win in as many fights on the show. All told Holdsworth has tapped out each and every one of his seven MMA opponents.

The Team Alpha Male product looks to be unstoppable with his grappling, but he’ll now consistently face off with the best bantamweight talent in the world in the UFC. Holdsworth is ready for that tall challenge. He spoke up with the following at last night’s TUF 18 post-fight press conference:

“It’s been a crazy journey and a great life experience, and it’s just beginning. Kurt Watson said yesterday at the fighter’s meeting that it’s harder to stay here than it is to get here, so I’m just gonna work my hardest to do my best and keep beginning a more complete fighter and keep winning fights.”

Holdsworth sounds like he has respect for the journey ahead. He knows that his work is indeed far from over and is thankful to have the surging Team Alpha Male behind him. Holdsworth touched on his team’s focus and cohesion:

“We got four guys on the card two weeks from now in Sacramento. Joseph Benavidez is gonna walk away with the flyweight strap, and we got you know, Urijah Faber and Danny Castillo and Chad Mendes are all going to throw down that night too. I’m going to get back home, help them train for it, and see those guys get their hand raised in two weeks.”

Holdsworth diverts much of the attention away from himself on a night when he could have basked in the limelight after winning the contract on one of the most hyped seasons of TUF in recent memory. That’s the mark of a classy fighter.

“Holds It Down” has done just that with his top-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills. No one has been able to come close to stopping him. Will he continue to run through the top competition of the UFC?
