World Series Of Fighting announced that Chael Sonnen will be calling the action as a color commentator for them going forward. Sonnen signed a two-year contract on Tuesday.

Former UFC title contender and now working as an analyst for ESPN, Chael Sonnen will debut as an analyst at WSOF 23.

“I am stoked to join the powerhouse team at World Series of Fighting, and call their fights that feature some of the best mixed martial artists on the planet,” Sonnen told Yahoo Sports. “World Series of Fighting has done an outstanding job of building their organization into a top-tier franchise in a very short span of time, and I am just proud to be a part of such a fast-growing company.”

Sonnen posted a 29-14-1 pro-MMA record and fought Anderson Silva twice for the UFC middleweight championship as well as Jon Jones once for the UFC light heavyweight championship.

However, in his last five MMA bouts, he went 3-2 and lost his last bout to Rashad Evans back at UFC 167 by first-round TKO.

If you remember, Sonnen retired from Mixed Martial Arts in June of 2014 after he had failed a random drug test. That marked the third failed drug test throughout his MMA career because of the presence of human growth hormone (HGH), recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO), anastrozole, and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).

WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz praised Sonnen in comments to MMAFighting.com.

“We are very happy to have Chael on board,” Abdelaziz said. “He is a great athlete and one of the best analysts ever. Myself, ray, and Carlos silva are excited about having him as part of the WSOF broadcast.”

Sonnen has served in many roles during his career as fighter, host of UFC Tonight, calling professional Wrestling with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross earlier this year in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling and as recently being a color commentator for Global Force Wrestling.
