Bjorn Rebney thinks we’ll see the best Rampage and Tito Ortiz ever at Bellator’s inaugural Pay-Per-View

Bellator FC CEO Bjorn Rebney has made waves recently by signing two former UFC Light Heavyweight champions in “Rampage” Jackson and Tito Ortiz. The two aging combatants will face off in the promotion’s first-ever pay-per-view (PPV) on November 2nd, and Rebney thinks they will be the best they have ever been.

Appearing on last night’s “Inside MMA” from AXS TV, Rebney stated:

“I think you’re gonna see a Quinton “Rampage” Jackson that’s reminiscent of the Arona Rampage Jackson, of the Chuck Liddell knockout Rampage Jackson. I think you’re gonna see the best Tito Ortiz you’ve ever seen.”

Those are some bold claims from Rebney, who is obviously counting on Ortiz and Jackson to show up and deliver a huge main event. But to state that we’ll see the best version of each fighter, when injuries and time have ravaged their bodies, is questionable.

Rebney also touched on tonight’s Bellator 98 featuring a Middleweight title fight of Alexander Shlemenko vs. Brett Cooper. Cheick Kongo also recently signed with Bellator, and it was revealed that he will be fighting in a four-man Heavyweight tournament. He also (somewhat) detailed Joe Warren’s removal from Bellator 98 and the inevitable Eddie Alvarez question. When the issue of Bellator Welterweight champion Ben Askren going to the UFC arose, Rebney responded:

“You know, we’ll see. Look, we can all agree that he’s ridiculously one-dimensional. The issue of that one dimension is that he’s better at it than anybody on the face of the earth. He has been dominant inside our cage. He is the best wrestler in MMA that we have in this sport.”

So, maybe Askren will continue his run as Bellator Welterweight champion. A good discussion of many topics, check out Rebney’s full interview below:

  • The comments about Ben Askren translates to……."We are waiting for him to come back with an offer from the UFC then we are going to do everything in our power to screw him just like we screwed Eddie Alvarez."

And we are going to see the best Tito and Rampage ever????? Seriously??

  • I feel like that's Horse Radish. Rampage and Tito are washed up hacks with nothing left to give the sport fighting. Commentating or whatever else they might want to do maybe. Having them as the main event of a card stacked with their title fights is a joke. It's saying 2 UFC Hasbeens are good enough to main event a card over our champions.

  • Been a long time since we saw the best Rampage

  • Bjorn is selling wolf tickets

  • If i was one of the guys in the title fights I would be pissed at those two slobs being in the main event.
what does this action really say about Rebneys confidence in his champions and contenders?
