‘Bigfoot’ Silva To Josh Barnett: You Aren’t Funny, You Are Scared & I Hate You

UFC heavyweights Josh Barnett and Antonio Silva seem to be building a pretty heated beef at the moment, with the latter putting in the most part of the trash talk. After calling out Barnett on Twitter, ‘Bigfoot’ was promptly and bluntly turned down. This didn’t stop Silva though, as he continued his public assault on ‘The Warmaster’.

‘Bigfoot’ still doesn’t seem happy with the situation, as he spoke once again to MMAFighting:

“Everything he said is nothing but excuses. He’s simply afraid to fight me, he’s ridiculous,” he said. “Him saying he’s going to help me… Help me with what? He’s below me in the rankings. What can he do to help me? Who has he fought over the past two years?”

You could argue that all of Barnett’s losses have come to higher echelon competition, but he does hold wins over top notch opponents too. With both men ranked in the top five, I’d have to agree with Silva when he says the fight makes sense. He continued:

“Josh Barnett, stop talking trash, brother, and accept the fight like a man. I hate you. Take the fight like a man. He disrespected me and mocked my disease, and I didn’t like it,” Silva explained. “He’s not educated and wants to be funny, but I don’t like him.”

“(The UFC) didn’t say anything to me yet. From what I heard, his manager contacted (the UFC) and said they don’t want the fight,” he said. “He’s scared. It’s simple.”

All reasons aside, it looks like Silva is very keen on this fight. Having sat dormant since his 2013 draw with Mark Hunt and subsequent drug test fail, ‘Bigfoot’ could find himself right back in the mix with a top five win. Barnett has long been regarded as a top heavyweight, although his last fight was a bit of a fail.

‘The Warmaster’ ate a sack of Travis Browne elbows en-route to a first round knockout last time he fought, and has been sidelined with the broken orbital bone that ‘Hapa’ dished him. This fight has bad blood and rankings significance, so what’s the hold up?
