Bellator 141 Results: Brandon Girtz Upsets Melvin Guillard

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, August 28, 2015, 2015) will come from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, in the form of Bellator 141. Headlining the card are Melvin Guillard vs. Brandon Girtz..

Melvin Guillard vs. Brandon Girtz met in a lightweight bout as the main event of Bellator 141. Girtz upset Guillard, who was making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight as he completely dominated Guillard with not only his striking, but ground and pound. Girtz won the fight by split decision.

Saad Awad vs. Patricky Freire met in a lightweight bout as the co-main event of Bellator 141. Some people would have liked this fight and some wouldn’t have as it was a technical fight to say the least. The fight went three rounds with Awad struggling to keep it standing while Freire tried to keep the fight on the ground as he was the superior fighter once the fight got there. In the end, the judges gave the win to Patricky Freire by unanimous decision.

Josh Burns vs. Justin Wren met in a heavyweight bout at Bellator 141. This fight did not live up to a normal heavyweight fight as there was not rock em sock em exchanges nor first-round knockouts. It was a slow and ultra-gassed MMA fight. The fight went three rounds with the judges giving Wren the win by unanimous decision.

Opening the main card on SPIKE TV for Bellator 141 was Arlene Blencowe (black) vs. Marloes Coenen in a women’s featherweight bout. Coenen controlled the entire fight by using her grappling skills that ultimately led to her locking in an armbar for the win in the second round.
