Bantamweight Bout Removed From Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 75 Card

UFC Fight Night 75 will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, but days prior to the event the UFC announced that a bout on the card was removed.

A bantamweight fight between Matt Hobar (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Norifumi Yamamoto (18-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC) after both competitors suffered undisclosed injuries.

Matt Hobar (9-3) is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In his last five bouts, he’s 3-2. He beat Nelson Salas at LFC 19 by unanimous decision, and Angel Huerta at LFC 21 by first-round rear naked choke to earn a UFC contract. He lost to Pedro Munhoz at TUF Brazil 3 Finale by first-round TKO. He came back and beat Aaron Phillips at UFC Fight Night 49 by unanimous decision, but then lost to Sergio Pettis at UFC 181 by unanimous decision.

Norifumi Yamamoto (18-6-2) is currently on a three-fight losing streak. In his last five bouts, he’s 1-3-1. He beat Federico Lopez at Dream 14 by first-round knockout to earn a UFC contract. He lost his first three UFC bouts to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 126 b unanimous decision, Darren Uyenoyama at UFC on FOX 1 by unanimous decision and then was submitted in the first-round by Vaughan Lee at UFC 144. His next fight with Roman Salazar at UFC 184 was ruled a no contest by accidental eye poke.

Now, a featherweight title between Diego Brandao (19-10 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Katsunori Kikuno (23-7-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has been elevated to the main card.

The event will be the fourth that the UFC has hosted in Saitama.

The event will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson. In the co-main event, middleweights Uriah Hall and Gegard Mousasi battle it out.

The preliminary bouts will be taking place on FOX Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET. The main card kicks off at 10:00 pm.est on FOX Sports 1.
