Alexander Gustafsson excited for rare opportunity at first UFC card in Sweden

alexandre gustafsson ufc 141This Saturday’s UFC on Fuel TV 2 card from Stockholm, Sweden, will present two very rare opportunities. The first is the opportunity to witness the spectacle of a live UFC event from Sweden, which has never been seen before. The second is the great opportunity given to rising Light Heavyweight prospect Alexander Gustafsson,. The young Gustafsson has been afforded the chance to fight in front of his home country’s first-time fans, and will come to battle the vicious Thiago Silva from the opening bell. Gustafsson had the following comments regarding UFC on Fuel TV 2:

“It’s a dream come true, and I’m very excited I always knew they would be here someday. We have a really big fanbase, so it was just a matter of time.” – Via mmajunkie.com

With the location already set, Gustafsson was originally slated to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, but found Silva stepping in due to injury. This didn’t seem to faze Gustafsson who stated the following:

“I’m very excited. Personally, I want to fight Thiago more then ‘Little Nog’ because I think he’s very aggressive, and he has some good power. It’s a good test for me. I’m just super-excited for the fight, and it’s going to be a great fight for the fans.”

Alexander Gustafsson‘s comments would suggest that the young Light Heavyweight is ready to put on a show for Sweden’s fans against Thiago Silva. He would even seem to prefer the more aggressive, striking-based challenge that Silva’s vicious Muay Thai style presents. The excitement and buzz are coming to a mountainous level prior to this historic bout, with anticipation of a knockout finish. Who will be victorious Saturday?
