WEC 53 in Glendale, Arizona delivered all that was to be expected from the promotion's final card.  A new and last Lightweight Champion was crowned in Anthony "Showtime" Pettis, who will go on to face the winner of the Edgar-Maynard match-up in a UFC title unification bout in 2011.  In the co-main event attraction of the night, Bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz successfully defended his title as he put on another five-round clinic to defeat Scott Jorgensen via Unanimous Decision and capture the first ever UFC 135-pound strap.

WEC awarded its customary $10,000 bonuses to the night's top performers, who were announced by general manager Reed Harris at the post-fight press conference.

they should have replace Shalorus vs Bart Palaszewski for Varner vs Roller in the main event! the undercard was better than the first 2 fights of the main event!

But the Main and Co Main event Deliver were EPIC!!

    they made History in MMA!

What a way for the WEC to go out. This was probably their greatest card ever; respect to all of 'em and hopefully we'll see these guys taking over in the UFC.

WEC went out with a bag even thought their biggest names, Aldo or Faber, weren't on the card.

WEC seems to have saved their best show for last.

    3 wham-bam ko's

    3 upsets

    3 dandy subs

a highlight kick in an upset change of belts

    3 competitive decisions

    and a new UFC champ

if every card had been this good

    well...
