hey i saw lower numbers on other page , well im glad is a lil bit more
still they need to raise them all!!
keeps the fighters humble. MMA does not need a mayweather
That is messed up, I mean Cruz would have only $11,000 if he would have lost, he is one of the champions from WEC and you would figured that he makes more money than that. There guys risk their lives everytime they get in the ring...
Keeps them humble, but hungry! They need to make more than that if they are to focus on mma and not have 2 jobs on the side.
This sh*t is not Spartacus, fighting in the Arenas, they're not slaves...
These guys are only getting on average $10,000 per fight. They only get to fight approx 3 times a year. $30,000 a year for world class proffesional athletes is very little (and they're probably taxed on this). I know they have sponsorship deals also, but they would probably get paid more working as street cleaners. Somebody is raping these guys for money.
his name is dana white on behalf of fertitta bros/ its business plain and simple. business profit 1st, fighter 2nd. Thats why i liked what tito always had to say in regard to fighters salaries and how they are treated. Like him or loathe him, he had valid points and dana didnt like him saying those things. The fighters would struggle without the ufc and wec but those fighters make those organizations what they are. The ufc is such a huge global brand and the money that those shows make is crazy compared to what the total payroll for fighters is, including the bonuses. dana must be on 5-10 million a year.
So what is keeping Dana White humble? A fighter making six grand for four months of training. MMA is in serious need of a fighter's union, you wouldn't see the UFC cutting this guy or that because Dana white doesn't like them. Saying that this guy will never fight in the UFC because he was in a video game. Fighters putting out every dime they have to make White and the Fritatta's rich is ridiculous.
Don't know why people weaked this, but a workers union is always good =)
I'm from Canada and I know owners in the NHL were merciless to the players before the players unions, there has to be some accountability to management to take care of these fighters when they can no longer fight. They get hurt in training camps they are done. They need pensions and proper salaries and contracts.
Im tired of hearing about the NFL comparison, MMA is a young sport, and UFC and WEC still pay their fighters the best out of any other organization. So stop blaming Dana for filling his garage with Lambos every owner of a sucessfull organization is raking in the doe. About the salaries mma is young compared to the NFL what do u think the average salaries were for NFL players in the first 20 years. Not to mention the NFL make multi billons every year, and can afford to pay these athletes those figures.
I agree that MMA is still new but there is no doubt in my mind they could up the salaries as the percentage spent on salaries is probably like 3%. How can we expect to see the best possible performances when a few guys at the top like Brock, AS, GSP etc, etc can spend all year training while the competition has to have a job in place and deprive their families of valuable time if they are to amount to anything in MMA. It should be like that in the lower teirs of MMA but when you get your way into the top like UFC and Strikeforce you should be able to live off your wages for fighting. If you say you can't afford it, then why offer Fedor $30 000 000.00 for a contract since that would support almost all the UFC fighters. It is a bunch of BS to think UFC cannot give more, don't fool yourself into believing UFC is completely legit.
I don't think those NFL players had to pay their training staff though IMO
these guys really deserve more $ for the shows they put on.
wow big difference in bonuses, from ufc to wec. like $50,000 difference
Did anyone notice that Jorgensen made more money than Cruz the champion and people are wondering if he deserves the next title shot
to earn as much as the UFC fighters you have to have pay per views that sell as much as the UFC events. i dont know the buyrate of WEC 50 but i think WEC 49 sold a littlebit more than 200,000. UFC 117 sold 1,000,000. so of cause there has to be a huge difference in fighter pay outs. But i still would like to see at least the main eventers getting more money for their performance.
They should at least give these guys an average of 20,000 a fight, that way they would not have to worry about money and they could focus their time on training and becoming better fighters.
Cruz didn't make crap.
