Posted on April 25, 2010, 01:00 AM by Anton GurevichWEC 48 participants Ben Henderson, Manny Gamburyan, Leonard Garcia and "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung earned a massive $65k bonuses to their original fighting purse.
Ben Henderson has successfully defended his WEC Lightweight title by choking out "The Cowboy" Donald Cerrone after just two minutes into the First Round. Henderson defended his unified title and won the "Submission of Night" award, will go home to Colorado Springs with a hefty addition to his bank account.
Also, Manny Gamburyan shocked the World by finishing the former Featherweight Champion and arguably one of the best P4P fighters, Mike Brown. Gamburyan was a heavy underdog prior to the fight, but the Armenian has perfectly executed his gameplan, which helped to achieve the famous victory and the "Knockout of the Night".
Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung went toe-to-toe in what could easily be The Slugfest of the Year. Two fighters tested their chin and bones during three rounds of Spike TV-aired action, to get a well earned $65k reward for their "Fight of the Night" performance.
WEC 48 bonuses are a massive $55,000 improvement from the $10k WEC 47 bonuses, which were won by Leonard Garcia, George Roop, Anthony Pettis and Joseph Benavidez.

garcia getting a bonus in the last event and this one. lol, thats bad ass for only taking the fight on 3 weeks
Thats amazing :)
I guess since WEC and UFC are making a lot of money, they might as well giveout more money how generous.
Question: Isn't WEC and UFC owned by the same people??
yes
about time Dana paid them better in the WEC
Dana isnt the WEC President fcukin Dbag....
If any of the fighters in those fights deserve to get paid its Garcia and Jung cause they put their bodies on the line and gave a hell of a performance. No real winner in that fight and when we see fights liek that we win to bygod
I have lots of respect for garcia and jung. it might not have been technically pretty, but if any fighter were to throw there best shots non-stop they WILL get tired. They poured it out and deserve every penny... and even more respect for the class at the end. The sport is where it needs to be when that kind of aggression can be turned into mutual respect at the ring of a bell! well done
