Donald Cerrone dominates Jamie Varner in a Unanimous Decision victory
Posted on September 30, 2010, 10:25 PM by Anton GurevichAfter long months of trash talk, WEC Lightweight contender Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone got his revenge on Jamie Varner, with a clean Unanimous Decision victory. Cerrone dominated Varner throughout the fight thanks to his reach, well-timed kicks and some successful timing. Varner managed to connect a few times with Cerrone, but lacked the power to stun his arch nemesis.
But the fight could not end without a little controversy. Immediately after the end of final round Donald Cerrone pushed Varner to the chin with his elbow. Former WEC Lightweight Champ returned with a push to the back, in what gave unpleasant flashbacks from Paul Daley's ugly incident against Josh Koscheck.
This way or another, Donald Cerrone won all round 10-9, capturing a clean 30-27 victory. Cerrone bounced back from defeat against Ben Henderson, now holding a professional MMA record of 12-3-0(1).

His striking has always been excellent.... Greg Jackson has obviously helped to improve his wrestling by leaps and bounds. His ability to keep Varner guessing and backing up made the difference in this one. Varner just seemed to be fighting a bit timid.
yea his striking always been up there, he is a former pro kickboxer, I think the Cowboy has been training his wrestling with GSP at Jacksons, he put on a great display of a well rounded fighter last night :)
one of the most exciting Greg jackson fighters if not the most exciting. Eventually he will get that belt
Varner looked like absolute crap. Cerrone played it smart, his corner was telling him to rush in?! what?! Varner is extremely dangerous in all aspects of the fight game and Cerrone just picked him apart
I did like the pre-and during fight antics, like at the end of the fight where they almost touch gloves, Donalds waves him off and Jamie shoves him, Donald turns around and Jamie's like ok ok ok lol
