World Series of Fighting schedules Las Vegas card for Jon Fitch’s debut

The World Series of Fighting will make its way to Las Vegas and the Hard Rock Casino Hotel this June for their third-ever night of fights. Seeking to build off of their second event, which saw numerous holdups but ultimately delivered some entertaining bouts for the fans, the promotion has announced the lineup for the June 14th show.

Former longtime UFC Welterweight contender Jon Fitch will make his promotional debut against Josh Burkman, who claimed Fitch should have to fight his way to the top before he gets a WSOF title shot. Also on the card is K-1 veteran Tyrone Spong, who looks to showcase his young talents in MMA. WSOF President Ray Sefo spoke up on the upcoming event:

“We are coming off a spectacular event showcasing some of the world’s greatest mixed martial arts athletes and up-and-coming talent of the sport and are looking forward to returning to Las Vegas with another outstanding night of world-class competition in the World Series of Fighting cage on NBC Sports Network.”

WSOF has a good television deal in place with NBC Sports, but they need to deliver in a big way this summer in order to make any headway on Bellator and the UFC. Here’s a complete rundown of the card thus far:

Main Card:

Josh Burkman vs. Jon Fitch

Brian Cobb vs. Justin Gaethje

Angel DeAnda vs. Tyrone Spong

Rolles Gracie vs. Dave Huckaba

John Gunderson vs. Dan Lauzon

Kendrick Miree vs. Krasimir Mladenov

Return of Tyrone Spong, who is the best pure striker who is competing in MMA.

    F' yea!

Yeah right, now that The Reem has been exposed and humiliated…

      • KeithFarrell

P4P, Tyrone has always been a better striker than Overeem. Overeem is just perhaps the best in open weight

easy win for john fitch, no match at all.

Good for Fitch. And what work does Josh Burkman think Fitch needs to show he is worthy of the contention? Is he scared he will lose it now when all looked good. I would argue that Burkman needed to test the UFC division but Fitch is probably the best fighter in this promotion regardless of weight class.

    Long night for Burky boy……
