POLL: Will Weidman Or Belfort Get The Gold In UFC 181's Blockbuster Main Event?

The MMA world was turned upside down earlier today (July 23, 2014) when the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) granted controversial middleweight Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort a license to fight in Las Vegas conditional upon additional drug testing.

The blockbuster announcement soon came that Belfort would face Chris Weidman in the main event of December 6’s UFC 181 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

In a year of disappointing fight cancellations, we are tantalizingly close to seeing one of the biggest ones 2014 promised us. But as always with “The Phenom,” we won’t be out of the woods until the cage door closes.

It’s been a wild ride.

In the meantime, let us know your stance about the upcoming title showdown. Cast your vote in the poll, and offer up your predictions in the comments section below!

    Belfort first minute T/KO

It's possible. But if anything, Weidman is an intelligent fighter and I'm sure he/his camp will be very aware of first round barrages. They'll have a plan to deal with it.

If Vitor can stay clean from now until December… he stands a decent chance at taking the title from the champ. That being said… I think Weidman will out point and wrestle him to a 5 round victory.

Option 7. The fight will be cancelled when Belfort fails a surprise test

Weidman finishes him on the ground. Belfort has looked great against some high level guys recently, but he has not fought a wrestler of Weidman's caliber in a long time. I have no evidence to suggest that he has developed elite takedown defense, so I seriously doubt he will be able to keep this fight standing for long. On the ground, Weidman is just better. He'll get a TKO or submission within the first two rounds.

His wrestling will hold up just fine against Weidman. He trains with bigger stronger and better wrestlers than Weidman.

Don't underestimate Belfort's jiujitsu – he's a legit blackbelt. Jone's had trouble finishing him on the ground and Jone's ground and pound is much nastier than Weidmans.
But I do think Weidman will win…a decision.

    Wait what about the option
vitor looses by no contest after failing drug test
vitor ruins the card getting pre fight drug screened

vitor is done if he can't use anymore.

Vitor without TRT couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat….

    • http://lowkickmma.com/author/movescamp movescamp

Even with trt who did he really beat besides rockhold? He is on a tear because he beat one middleweight close to the top 5? Please the bum should fight mousasi and get his ass beat.
anyone who votes for vitor is holding up a.doping cheater. The guy admitted to injecting week worths of trt at a time. He is a pos and should have been banned from the sport. How many chances do you get? Oh and the Jesus hypocricy/psychopathy is great too. Jesus loves cheating drug users who punch people for a living.

      He's that quick!

We already saw Lyoto giving the champ a bit of a headache on the feet, my MMA math tells me that with Belfort's speed and power that headache should turn into a T/KO.

Vitors record is greatly exaggerated. He has one win against a top guy. Rockhold. Henderson maybe but he's not a top 5 guy anymore.

vitot is no where near as skilled as machida. He has more ko power on peds that's it. Now he can't cheat and will be tested periodically before the fight so this will be a shell of the over inflated vitor (who really hasn't beaten the top tier guys anyway)

I cant believe more people have voted for Vitor. I understand he is a threat but how can you not think Weidman will win. He has beat silva twice, undefeated and was so impressive against Machida.

I think this is going to be a wicked fight, just a little surprised to see the champ below on the poll that's all!

Silva fucked up the first fight, got struck by horror in the second and i was FAR from impressed by his performance with Lyoto. Lyoto didnt even start fighting til round 4 and when he did, Weidman got lit up like a chirstmas tree. Vitor will start putting hands on Weidman from the first second of the fight until it's lights out around the 1 minute mark, just watch…!!

Weidman via TKO stoppage2/3rd – he's a beast and amazing.

I think the champ holds the advantage over late replacement Luke Rockhold if the fight goes to the ground. Rockhold has great striking but you know Chris does against these excellent strikers. Chris Weidman wins via TKO.
