Striking has long been my favorite style in MMA, not only for it's aesthetic qualities, but also for it's effectiveness. Muay Thai, Boxing, MMA style striking, karate and many othe Martial Arts help make up the varied display of the stand up game that we see in MMA.

Some fighters use excellent defensive techniques to utilize striking range, whereas others preferr to steamroll through opponents with deadly power. One fighter that springs to mind for me is Anderson Silva, so who do you think is the best striker in MMA right now?

Anderson Silva isn't the best striker in mma BUT he is still the best mma striker. No one has been as effective as he has against the caliber of opponents he has had. That said, Pettis, Aldo and Machida come so close as to be pretty much equal. I am only giving Anderson a slight superiority here.

I think that Machida and Silva are pretty comparable in their striking. Machida is elusive with his footwork. Silva is elusive with bobbing, weaving and slipping. Machida you can't catch. With Silva your lead foot could be standing on his lead toes and you still can't hit him. Striking tho - agreed, similar

Why is Hendricks even an option? The guy throws left hands and some times right hands. That's it

Yeah, Put Conor McGreggor in there instead. I know he's fresh to the UFC but he is elite. Other than Aldo I don't know who else can touch him at 145 in striking.

They have no technique and throw one punch at a time and 2 if they are lucky. No combo's and no kicks. All they have is pure power...

Yea Henderson looked great against belfort, tool an entire minute and his entrance was head to floor and baby bear half strikes.....

The question isn't who is the most technical striker. Henderson has been lackluster at best, I'll give you that, but Hendricks is the scariest striker at 170. He can hang with GSP, moreover, beat him up, but he is a terrible striker, right?

VITOR BELFORT is the most dangerous striker in MMA right now.....If you asked the question who is the best striker in history than Anderson would get the nodge but unfortuanetly his striking skills were absent against Weidman therefore he is not the best striker right now...Vitor Belfort is like a crocop 2.0 version. Jnr Dos santos had 50 minutes to showcase his striking against Cain but got beaten like an egg Lyoto is a great striker to and woulld present problems to silva if they ever fought.

I know it would never happen, but Silva vs Machida would be a very interesting striking battle, would potential to be boring though, seeing as they are both elusive counter punchers

Nate Diaz holds the record for most strikes landed in a UFC fight, a feat that he accomplished in a three round fight! Not to mention he is coming off of a devastating ko over a top five opponent. How did he not even make the list?

best striker in mma. the only one mentioned here that suits this is tyrone.. faced the best strikers in k-1, glory etc and did really good and is considered to be one of the best worldwide. most mma guys wont stand a chance against a real striker who only trained striking his entire life.
so in conclusion :) tryrone should be one from a logic point of view

With Silva on the list, the poll seems a little pointless IMO, no offense.
