Weidman: I would like to fight Anderson Silva nextPosted on July 12, 2012, 06:24 AM by Anton Gurevich
UFC on Fuel TV 4 main event victor, Chris Weidman, looked back at his performance against Mark Munoz, and the possible match-up with Anderson "The Spider" Silva. Weidman admitted that he wants to fight Anderson Silva next, in hope to find success where Chael Sonnen failed:
"Chael makes it look easy to take this guy down, and it's absolutely not easy. I mean, he fought 15 guys and everyone wants to take him down but no one does it besides Chael. Everyone seeing Chael getting in those positions, saying 'I would do this, I would do that', but to get this guy down and to do what Chael did is just unbelievable.
Anderson Silva is no joke, and of course I would love to be able to get him down in the same positions, and I will be working on different things to get a finish there too."
Chael Sonnen joined-in to praise Chris Weidman, saying that he was "blown away" by the fact that Mark Munoz was kept down for so long during the fight. Sonnen labeled Weidman as the #1 contender, and a serious threat to Anderson Silva's reign as the UFC Middleweight champion.
Chris Weidman is 9-0 in his MMA career, with notable victories over Demian Maia, Alessio Sakara, and now Mark Munoz. Weidman make his debut at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann, one month after Anderson Silva defeated Vitor Belfort, in what was his eighth title defense.
