Vitor Belfort allies with Rashad Evans ahead of UFC 152 fight with Jon Jones

On September 22nd, Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort will enter the Octagon at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with sights on winning his first UFC title since 2004.

The Phenom will have a whole new armory at his disposal. Just recently, Vitor Belfort announced his switch from Xtreme Couture to the evergrowing Imperial Athletics camp in Boca Raton, Florida. Belfort is expected to use the services of "Suga" Rashad Evans, who not only trained with Jon Jones for several years in Albuquerque, New Mexica, but also fought the reigning champ back at UFC 145.

via MMAJunkie.com:

"I have the best people around me," Belfort said. "I'd been talking to Rashad in the back (of UFC events) for so long. I was talking with him and (manager) Glenn (Robinson), and then I fought (Blackzilians member) Anthony Johnson. I didn't want to just go there.  I see a lot of great guys on the team. I want to learn from the best. If you want to be a lion, you have to train with the lions.

How could I not be joyful to fight the best guy at the moment?" Belfort said. "Everybody from my time retired, and nobody would have that opportunity."

Vitor Belfort is 3-1 in part deux of his UFC career, with impressive victories over Yoshihiro Akiyama, Rich Franklin, and Anthony Johnson. In contrast to Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort is only 10 years older than Jon Jones. Nevertheless, the bookmakers give Belfort a 13-1 chance to dethrone Jon Jones at UFC 152.

Vitor has no LOYALTY whatsoever .

He is just moving from camp to camp...

This is why A.Silva wanted to punish him so bad.

Vitor is a nice person ,but he is not loyal at all, he will stay with you to learn your technique ,then go somewhere else without being thankful

Good luck vitor is right, can't say anything bad about the man, he's a legend of the sport in his own right. who knows where his career would have been if not for the loss of his family as a young fighter. I don't think this move really helps him to much though. Rashad clearly had 0 answers for Jones, I don't see how he could help Vitor other then TDD, but since Jones has had no problem with any wrestler he's fought I don't think Vitor will be able to stop them. Another arguable legend is about to see 1rst hand the evolution of the fight game, like him or not Jones is on a level unseen before. he's only 24!

In the fight game your only expected to be loyal to one person.... yourself.

If you feel you will become a better fighter by moving camp and your current camp is unhappy then they're being unloyal to you!

M1 does have a point Brazilians are very big on camp loyalty you cant even switch from Brazilian Top Team, and Chuto Box they murder you if they found out you came from one of those camps to the other.

It works well for GSP and I'm thinking I can be loyal to this camp or that or I can be loyal to my family and try to do what is best for them (look for ways to win).

    Family first, camp second

Bullshit. All ufc fighters are well known for each other as a friend or as training partners. Its not a big deal

No wat i mean is its ok to do that once in a while, not only he betrays his camps everytime , but Vitor has no problems to ask for a fight once he already trained with you (and thinks he can beat u) ,even if he was suppose to not fight a teammate" .

He asks to fight A.Silva after training with him for a long time in the past, this is the reason why AS was so upset when they fought....

I wouldnt be surprise if he asks to fight Rashad in a few month, or some of his old training partners at Xtreme Couture.

Last of the old vanguard, along with Hendo, to still be fighting at the top level in the UFC.

Good move to work with Rashad, a guy who has trained extensively with Jones and was the last man in the cage with him (for the full 25 mins). Training with Rashad in preparation for Bones was a move Rampage rejected but Vitor looks to be doing everything in his power to help him win the fight.

That being said I still don't see Vitor winning.

An interesting thing though is how will Jones win? Vitor is one of the hardest guys to finish in MMA - he has a steel chin and great BJJ.

Vitor is probably the best BJJ guy Jon has faced and there is a chance of him getting him in one of those unorthodox chokes but apart from that it will be hard to sub him. Vitor has only been properly finished from strikes once due to his solid chin and that was via Silva, someone who Jones can match in striking power.

Jon;s best chance of finishing may be to do what he did to Shogun and wear him down with a beating, especially with Vitor's unknown cardio he may not be able to go the full 5 rounds.

when you get knocked out once from someone with knockout power it's over anybody with no knockout power could knock you out that being said never in Jons wildest dreams would he knocked out vitor TKO maybe and I think that's the game plan is to take vitor down and start throwing elbows tell the fight is over.. honestly I'm not that pumped for this fight that being said I'm hoping that vitor could keep the fight standing and KO Jones the f*** out

Sorry guys I was the one to give the sharp on this dumbass comment by accident.

Two of the highest percentage finishers in the UFC, Jones has never been in a boring fight and is easily one of the most exciting guys to watch in MMA, if you blink Vitor may finish the fight and for the last couple years all his fights have been crazy 1st round finishes.

Not even worth watching? What is then? Your probably waiting for a Fitch Shields Askren 3 way

Jones is winning this fight, no doubt about it but that does not mean it will not be entertaining.

I guess since watching a fight which is easily predictable is not worth watching, may as well put Silva, GSP and Aldo in to the prelims and get them off TV.

Fight doesn't need to be between two very equal guys to be exciting

It's definitely worth watching Keith. But there's a reason why Vitor is a 11 to one underdog in this fight. While he does have a chance it is very slim Maybe Jones will be distracted by the fact that 80% of the fans now hate him more and Dana White has been added to that list.

After watching TUF Brazil it is pretty obvious that Belfort is a pompous A** who loves to hear himself talk and ramble on. I am sure he will convince himself that he is going to destroy Jones just like he did against Silva. Remember that kick to the face, Vitor?
