"The California Kid" put on a show for his California fans at last night's UFC on Fox 9, knocking out touted bantamweight prospect Michael McDonald and sending a message to Renan Barao and Dominick Cruz in the process.
Faber's striking was known to be improved under new Team Alpha Male head coach Duane "Bang" Ludwig, but last night it looked absolutely otherworldly.
He stood and traded with a known knockout artist and dominated, landing huge right hands seemingly at will to soften up McDonald for one of his trademark guillotine chokes.
The win leaves the 35-year-old Faber with nowhere to go but towards another title shot, so he'll await the winner of UFC 169's pivotal Barao vs. Cruz title unification bout.
