UFC on FX 5 rescheduled; Travis Browne to face Antonio Silva in main event
Posted on July 27, 2012, 01:22 PM by Mike DrahotaWith questions surrounding UFC on FX 5 scheduled for September and the recent injury of Heavyweight Ben Rothwell, the UFC has decided to overhaul plans for this event. Rescheduled for October 5th and moved from Indianapolis to Minneapolis, Minnesota, Travis Browne will now face Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in lieu of Rothwell in the main event. Browne and Rothwell were scheduled to go face-to-face at UFC on Fox 4 on August 4th, but the rising Heavyweight contender Browne was apparently needed to bolster the roster of UFC on FX 5.
The card is appearing to lack star power, and Browne is an up-and-coming star, having gone undefeated in the UFC's highest division. Antonio Silva was quite highly regarded himself last year, but vicious defeats to Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez took most of the luster away from him. It will be interesting to see how Silva can rebound in his attempt to prove his relevancy. A third straight loss may send him packing to another organization, as he has not put up much of a fight in his two most recent losses. With a win, Browne should find himself in line for a shot at a top-ranked Heavyweight as he continues his quest towards UFC gold.
While it is good to see the UFC returning to Minneapolis for the first time in four years, this is the only confirmed fight as of yet. Featherweights Diego Nunes vs. Bart Palaszewski are rumored to be moved over for the card, but that is a bout which only the most hardcore fans will be talking about. The shifting and rescheduling of this event could be considered cause to wonder if the UFC is putting on too many cards and spreading itself too thin. Usually we do not see a card rescheduled with only two bouts only two months prior. If this or any other UFC events in the near future fail to deliver in some form, the UFC does risk losing some fans. Hopefully this is not the case. What are your thoughts on the rescheduling of UFC on FX 5?

Better fight overall imo. Good job!
Silva no can to fight and Travis Brown can win for days ha! Is not can win this fight and will come to Strikeforce see frends with Coker ha! and is can not see for days to win for Brown and Silva sleep or tap 2st round.poor Silva can find hard fights at UFC.
What?
sweet Brown vs a guy with a 2 fight losing streak main eventing this card, didnt know this was the MFC
True David, I mentioned in another thread that Dana would throw Diaz in the octagon as soon as he legally can. Its guys like Diaz who can carry half the MMA mainstream on their back alone that keeps this sport moving forward.
If a guy is going to have a 2 fight losing streak, it might as well be to the the former UFC HW champ and the current Strike Force HW Grand Prix winner. Not a exactly a couple of cans...
Finally Hapa gets a top 10 opponent, especially cool as it is the main event.
Bigfoot's weak chin combined with Travis' devastating punches and knees leads me to think that Browne will get his coming out party via devastating KO.
Hopefully he will bring the chin he brought to the Fedor and Arlovski fights. That was a good chin. The one he wore for Cormier sucked.
These guys both have solid striking skills, so it could be an exciting fight. Bigfoot Silva is a very well rounded fighter, and probably has the advantage when it comes to grappling in this matchup. However, I think there is a huge disparity in overall athleticism in this fight. Browne is one of the fastest, most explosive guys in the heavyweight division, and Bigfoot might be the slowest fighter in the entire UFC.
Unless Bigfoot can somehow get this fight to the ground, which is going to be extremely difficult for him, Browne is going to KO him.
Bigfoot is slow as hell. He just seems like one of those guys who gets hits by a car and hears the horn afterwards.
I agree with most of what you wrote but watch round one of the fights with Fedor and Werdum and the entire fight with Arlovski. BF isn't that slow. He isn't grease lightening but he isn't that slow.
Look, I know he's not exactly slow. He's a professional athlete competing at the highest level of his sport. But so is everyone else in the UFC HW division, and I think all of them are faster than Bigfoot. If you don't agree, who do you think is slower than him?
Good match up but is UFC going to overlook if the fighter lost his last fight now? They usually don't make matches like this. It's always winner against winner or loser vs loser. Mir vs DC is another incident that comes to mind.
I think if you lose to Cain no one blames you, it's basically expected... unless your called Cigano.
i expect same outcome that in fedor fight! But who knows......?
you know his face really does look like a big foot
