UFC Fight Night 95 Preliminary Results: Michel Prazeres Picks Up Decision Win
It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, September 24th, 2016) will come in the form of UFC Fight Night 95.
Gilbert Burns vs. Michel Prazeres in a lightweight bout closed the UFC Fight Night 95 preliminary card on Fox Sports 1. In round 1 Burns with the counter drops Prazeres, but Prazeres showing some real strength to bully inside. Prazeres scored a takedown with less than a minute to go in the round but Burns got right back his feet. In round 2 they both were throwing for the fences. Prazeres shot in for a takedown midway through the round but Burns stuffed it. Burns was looking to throw a flying knee strike but didn’t have the range. Burns was out countering striking him. In round 3, midway through the round, Burns was hurt badly to the body but Prazeres couldn’t finish him off. Burns landed a nasty up kick and got back to his feet. They exchanged to end the round. Prazeres picked up the decision victory.
Rani Yahya and Michinori Tanaka met in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 95. In round 1, Yanya scored an early round takedown and went for a side choke but couldn’t get it. Tanaka scrambled moments later got on top and beat him down for the majority of the round in top guard. In round 2, Tanaka was kneed in the nuts early. Ranya scored a takedown but Tanaka got right back to his feet. Tanaka scored a takedown and they had a nice scramble exchange with Tanaka ending up on top to end the round. In round 3, Tanaka got an early round takedown and landed some hammer fists from top position in half guard. Yahya worked for an ambar off his back but Tanaka pulled through. Tanaka got his back and rained down some strikes. Yahya scrambled out and tried to get up but Tanaka fell on him. Yahya picked up the decision victory.
Jussier Formiga and Dustin Ortiz met in a flyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 95. In round 1, Formiga scored an early takedown and landed some shots. Moments later, Ortiz scrambled and got on top in guard. In round 2, Formiga scored a takedown early in the round and just beat down Ortiz. Formiga got back mount and locked in a body lock. Formiga wanted the rear-naked choke but Ortiz fought out of it. In round 3, they stayed striking for the majority of the round until Formiga scored a takedown midway through the round and got back mount. Late in the round, Ortiz scrambled and got on top in guard and rained down a series of strikes. Formiga was given the decision victory.
Erick Silva vs. Luan Chagas in a welterweight bout opened the UFC Fight Night 95 Fox Sports 1 preliminary bouts. In round 1, they had a feeling out process early. Chagas dropped Silva with a left hook but Silva got right back to his feet and Silva clinched with him. Chagas separated and landed a couple of good right hooks. Chagas hurt him with a knee strike. Chagas scored a takedown and landed some big strikes to end the round. In round 2, Chagas kicked Silva in the nuts to open the round. Silva recovered and scored a takedown in the first 30-seconds left in the round. Silva landed a series of elbows to the body of Chagas. Chagas got back to his feet moments later and then dropped Silva with a left uppercut. Chagas rained down a series of elbows from half guard then got back mount and rained down some more strikes. Silva scrambled and got back mount to end the round. In round 3, Chagas clinched with him up against the fence to start the round. Silva landed a big combo. Chagas went for a takedown but fell, Silva stepped back and locked in the rear-naked choke. Very slick submission.
Alan Patrick vs. Steven Ray in a lightweight bout finished off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card. In round 1, Patrick came out quick and scored an early takedown after briefly clinching. Ray scrambled back to his feet and was pressed up against the fence. Patrick took him down again but Ray fell on top of him in mount. Ray went for an armbar and locked it in. Ray stood up and Patrick let go of it. Patrick scrambled and got on top in half guard. Patrick worked him over with strikes. In round 2, Patrick landed a big combo right out of the gate and then worked for a takedown, which he got. Patrick worked him over with a series of right hands. They were stood up with over a minute to go in the round. Ray took him down and got his back. Ray landed several strikes from this position. In round 3, Patrick scored a takedown to begin the round and Ray tried to get a knee lock but had to let go of it. Patrick got on top in half guard. Patrick worked him over for a kimura but couldn’t get it. Patrick scored the decision victory.
Vicente Luque and Hector Urbina met in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 95. This one did not last long at all. Urbina came out and landed a big shot early then clinched with him up against the fence. Luque landed some big combos and KO’d him with an overhand right.
Opening the UFC Fight Night 95 Fight Pass prelims was Glaico Franca vs. Gregor Gillespie in a lightweight bout. In round 1, Franca pressed early but Gillespie tagged him with a right hand and scored a takedown midway through the round. Franca scrambled back to his feet moments later and Gillespie pressed him up against the fence. Franca pulled him down to the ground and got his back with two minutes to go in the round. Franca moved to half guard and worked him over with strikes to end the round. In round 2, Franca scored a brief takedown to open the round. Gillespie got back to his feet but Franca clinched and took him down again shortly after. Franca got half guard and worked him over with strikes. Gillespie scrambled back to his feet. Franca took him down late in the round and landed a series of strikes from half guard. In round 3, Franca came out and went for a takedown but Gillespie used good takedown defense. Franca clinched with him and then took him down just over a minute into the round. Franca moved into half guard and worked him over with strikes. Franca got back mount to end the round. Gillespie scored the decision victory.
