UFC Fight Night 102 Preliminary Card Results: Justine Kish Decisions Ashley Yoder

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, December 9th, 2016) will come in the form of UFC Fight Night 102. Headlining the card are Derrick Lewis and Shamil Abdurakhimov, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Justine Kish vs. Ashley Yoder in a strawweight closed the preliminary card. In round 1, early blitz from Kish but Yoder is able to regroup and land a few good left hands and body kicks. They clinch halfway through the round and Kish gets a takedown. She gets on top but Yoder scrambles and gets on top and has back mount. Kish scrambles and lands a series of elbows while on top with two minutes to go. They get back to the feet, Kish stunned her with a left hand. Yoder recovered, and they exchange to the bell. In round 2, Yoder scores a takedown early in the round. Kish uses her strength to scramble and is going for an armbar, but Yoder is out. Yoder got on top with two minutes to go and worked her over with strikes. In round 3, Kish clinched with her halfway through the round then put her in a headlock and took her down. She pinned down Yoder and smashed her face in with strikes. Yoder scrambled and got on top in half guard. Kish gets up and lands some big shots, Yoder pulls guard, but Kish asks her to stand. They exchanged to the bell. Kish scored the decision win. 

Brian Camozzi and Randy Brown met in a welterweight bout. In round 1, Brown lands a right hand that seems to have rocked Camozzi. Brown then scored a takedown. Brown got guard and worked him over with strikes. Camozzi is staying active off his back, looking to get up. Camozzi latches an armbar. Brown waited it out and got out of it. In round 2, Camozzi was bleeding from his nose badly. Camozzi clinches with him. Brown drops Camozzi with a knee and finishes him off with strikes.

Gerald Meerschaert and Joe Gigliotti met in a middleweight bout. Meerschaert presses forward, but Gigliotti shot in for a takedown. However, Meerschaert shrugged it off and clinched with him. Halfway through the round, Gigliotti shot in for a single-leg takedown and got it. Meerschaert busted his nose up, and Gigliotti started bleeding. Meerschaert got his back and worked him over with strikes. Meerschaert locked in the anaconda choke for the win.

Andrew Sanchez and Trevor Smith met in a middleweight bout. In round 1, Sanchez missed a wild punch and Smith pushed him down. Sanchez scrambled back to his feet. Black landed a body kick then an uppercut before they clinch that saw Sanchez land some big shots. They exchanged to the bell. In round 2, Sanchez was making the uppercut work for him as Smith continues to use double-forearm defense and duck his head. Smith clubbed at the end of the round and off balanced briefly. In round 3, Sanchez went for a high kick and Smith took him down but Sanchez got right back to his feet. Smith most likely can’t see from his left eye as it is really bruised up and has severed swelling. They exchanged to the end of the round. Sanchez won the fight by decision.

Tiago Trator and Shane Burgos met in a featherweight bout. In round 1, Trator came right out and clinched with him. Trator has Burgos back and is trying to land some knees, can’t quite take him down, though. They separated. Not much happening in this fight, Burgos plodding while Trator circles. Trator was looking for the takedown throughout the round but just can’t get it. In round 2, Burgos drops Trator and is in side control and dropping powerful halfway through the round and lands several strikes while on top. urgos lets him up, and they resume swinging to end the round. Burgos’ corner cut his ponytail in between rounds. In round 3, Trator is trying to stand in and trade and keep this a dog fight. Burgos gets the takedown now with just under a minute left. Burgos gets in half guard and works him over with strikes and elbows. Burgos landed the decision win.

Frankie Perez and Marc Diakiese met in a lightweight bout. In round 1, Diakiese catches a kick and takes Perez down, sets up in his guard early in the round. Diakiese worked him over with elbows. Perez continued to scramble and finally got to his feet then slammed him down to the ground while losing his mouth piece. Diakiese got to his feet then took him down. Perez scrambled back to his feet. Diakiese got guard and worked hi over with strikes. In round 2, Diakiese opened the round with a series of kicks. Perez with a takedown and he had top position in Diakiese’s full guard. Perez worked him over with strikes to end the round. In round 3, the clinch against cage briefly. Diakiese trying to walk Perez down. He catches another kick to take Perez down. Diakiese scored the decision win.

Keith Berish and Ryan Janes met in a middleweight bout. In round 1, they have a feeling out process early. Barish landing some nice shots now, Janes responds with pressure and a good body kick, continues to eat shots. Janes put the pressure on but eats a right hand. In round 2, Berish was landing big shots, but Janes was throwing a lot more punches that weren’t necessarily landing. Janes were more focused on volume rather than damage in this round. Janes pressing forward, Berish looking a bit uncomfortable in the exchanges now even tho he’s still landing. In round 3, both men opened up now around their eyes, Berish landing heavy, Janes landing heavy. Berish with the takedown and has Janes against the fence, but he gets back up. They clinch halfway through the round and Berish landed some knee strikes. Berish scores a takedown. Janes scrambled and ended up on top with a minute to go. Janes worked him over with strikes. Janes scored the decision win.

Opening the prelims was Juliana Lima vs. J.J. Aldrich in a strawweight bout. In round 1, Aldrich presses early, but they had a real feeling out process. Aldrich clinches and lands a few knee strikes before they break. Lima shot for a takedown but couldn’t get it, so they clinch up against the fence. Lima tripped her and took down then got side control. Aldrich scrambled to her feet, and they end the round in the clinch.  In round 2, Aldrich opens up with Octagon control but eats a head kick and a few good leg kicks. Lima lands a good flurry of shots took down Aldrich, who shoots right back up. They clinch up against the fence. Lima took her down and presses her up against the fence with two minutes to go.  In round 3, after clinching for the majority of the round, Lima took her down with two minutes to go. Aldrich got right back to her feet, and they went back to striking. Lima’s striking improved in this round then she clinched and landed a series of knee strikes. They exchanged to the finish. The judges gave Lima the decision victory.

Middleweight: Ryan Janes def. Keith Berish by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
