The UFC traveled down to Mexico City, Mexico, for the first time tonight (November 15, 2014) and overall, it was a great card featuring many exciting fights and finishes.

Fabricio Werdum not only took home the interim heavyweight title for his second round TKO win over former K-1 Champion Mark Hunt, but also pocketed an extra $50,000 and a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

The second “Performance of the Night” Award went to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum for his performance in the co-main event of the evening. Gastelum continued his rise up the welterweight rankings by choking out veteran Jake Ellenberger in the very first round.

Henry Briones and Guido Cannetti earned $50,000 each for their inspiring war on the preliminary card. The two fighters battled it out in a back and forth war that eventually saw Briones lock up a rear naked choke to seal the deal in the second round.

Overall, the UFC’s first trip to Mexico was a success, and UFC 180 was arguably one of the best cards of the year.
