UFC 152 live gate and Fight Night bonuses
Posted on September 23, 2012, 02:19 AM by Mike DrahotaUFC 152 provided a solid card all said and done, and the Fight Night bonuses were headed up by Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones for his Kimura victory over Vitor Belfort. Jones continues to ride his momentum as one of the best fighters in the game today. Cub Swanson earned the $65,000 prize for Knockout of the Night, which makes two in a row for him. Knocking out Charles Oliveira with one punch was impressive, and Swanson continues to law his way back towards a rematch with Jose Aldo. The two met in WEC with Aldo landing an incredible flying knee for the victory. Finally, TJ Grant and Evan Dunham won the award for Fight of the Night.
The gate numbers are in and the event drew a reported $1.8 million live gate from the Air Canada Center in Toronto. There were 16,800 fans who attended the event which saw the very first Flyweight champion crowned. Vitor Belfort had Jones in a vicious armbar that appeared to almost submit Jones, but the champ refused to tap. All together, the events showcased some precise, effective performances from some great fighters tonight.

That KO was amazing I never saw the ko like that it was like in Samurai movie than a guy gets hits at first he feels like nothing happen and suddently he is out. But Judges and referree did some shit tonight. I mean In Matt Hamil fight one judge gave 29-28, I mean dude wtf??? Did they actually flip a coin or something?
It was the liver shot before the overhand right, that literally sucked the life force out of him. Once you get hit in this spot or eat a dirty kidney shot, your brain goes:" ok, that it! blue screen in........3......2......1........ "
and if you like those "samurai movie finishes' ", go watch bas rutten fights.
PS: The Submission of the Night bonus should have gone to Magalhaes. Don't know why the lowkick staff also picked JJ.
I thought Magalhaes should have gotten it as well. That roll to extend and secure the armbar was beautiful. It also kind of annoys me that the Americana that Jon Jones secured keeps on getting called a Kimura, but I can be nitpicky.
I agree that Magalhaes should get the submission of the night bonus. His submission was very impressive and sophisticated...I don't know why Dana decides to reward Jones instead...I guess such decisions are a bit subjective.

Jones got the sub for a couple reasons from what I can tell. Vitor is a much better opponent than Igor. And Jones nearly got his arm broken and then came back and won with a sub of his own.
I thought he deserved it.
