Travis Browne: Overeem Won’t Throw His Weight Around At Jackson’s

Last month it was revealed Strikeforce’s former heavyweight champion and current UFC fighter Alistair Overeem would be leaving the Blackzillians in Florida to move over to Greg Jackson‘s camp in Albuquerque.

The move was due to a number of problems. One of them being down to Overeem apparently injuring his former training partner Guto Inocente in a sparring session which wasn’t going the Dutchman’s way.

Another issue was with him choosing to not train with the rest of the Blackzilians, instead he would bring his own coaches in. Well according to “The Reem’s” soon-to-be training partner Travis Browne the former champion does deserves another chance but he will not be getting away with any of his old tricks at Jackson’s:

“I think everybody’s due a chance. Just because he wasn’t the best teammate there, doesn’t mean he can’t be a good teammate here. When he comes to Jackson’s, the stuff that all his other teammates were saying he did, is not going to fly at Jackson’s,” Browne said on Monday’s edition of ‘The MMA Hour‘.

He will not have the opportunity to even let it get that far. Does that make sense? If he says, ‘hey coach, I’m going to bring my own guys and work out at night.’ Coach Jackson will be like, ‘you can either train with the team, or you can leave.

Overeem and Browne do have a history of course. The two heavyweights met back in August where “Hapa” handed the 33-year old the second straight loss of his UFC career. Frank Mir is another fighter at Jackson’s who has fought the former K-1 champion.

“The Reem” topped Mir via unanimous decision in his most recent outing to snap his previous losing streak. But if Overeem thinks he will be able to “throw his weight round” at Jackson’s he has another thing coming.

“I feel like a lot of people, because he’s Alistair Overeem, have catered to him. I feel like Blackzilians probably catered to him, so he got used to it and he felt like he could throw his weight around a little bit. At Jackson’s, it’s not going to fly.

You’re either part of the team or your not. If you’re not part of the team, you can get the hell out out of here. We don’t need you here. We didn’t ask you to come here, you asked to come here, so you see something here that you need. So, you’re either part of the team, or leave.”
