Tito Ortiz: I felt like Jon Jones stabbed me in the back

Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz, revealed in an interview with MMAWeekly.com that he felt back-stabbed by Jon Jones' recent interview with MMAFighting.com, where the reigning champ stated he's not complaining about money, unlike "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy".

Ortiz has now dedicated himself to promoting young up-and-coming MMA fighters, opening his own management company. Former champ has also partnered with Roy Englebrecht for "Fight Club MMA: Rising Stars," which debuts on October 6th at The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Orange County, California.

Here's Ortiz's double shot at Jon Jones on Twitter and later in an interview with MMAWeekly.com:

"@JonnyBones I'm disappointed in u. When no one else had your back I did. The only reason u make the money u do is because I fought & spoke out no other fighters would. The next time u are riding in your Bentley remember who fought for the fighters. If not u maybe riding in a truck. #noonehadtheballtostandthereground."

"I think he's a great guy. I've hung out with him in Vegas and I really took a liking to the kid because he's, I think he's the next best great thing. Then, all of a sudden, I heard an interview from him saying, 'People need to stop comparing me to Tito Ortiz because I don't talk about money.' And, I took a very heartfelt, that was like a stab to my back. I stood up for you when no one else did, I stood up for you and you turn around and say something like that? You have to understand, when you drive around in your Bentley, or, I don't know if he even has it anymore since he wrecked it into a tree, but when you're driving around in your Bentley, you have to understand, I'm the person who put my life on the line and my career and my image and my name on the line to take everything I did to battle for the type of contracts that you have, for the money that you're making."

If anybody does they are not intelligent. Tito was one of the first people to defend Jones, and he took a shot at him in an interview.

    Completely uncalled for.

13 months makes it pretty short notice for a couple fights...Jon just lost sooooo much respect for the bicth move he did

I think Johnny is burning a lot of bridges. I think even the lady "he" saved from getting mugged would pass on the help now.

i love tito...and he's right about bones as much as i defended him in a post earlier, bones needs to know who his 'friends' are in the business as they're starting to wear thin due to him running his mouth

Tito's poor ability to communicate in proper English makes it hard to follow his logic.

Tito's exactly right. When the shit hit the fan a little while back Ortiz was one of the first people to defend him on Twitter. Jones reciprocated that by making that BS comment.

Once again Tito seems to bring it full circle and make it all about him. You cant get through an interview with him without him talking about how great his career was and all the things he did in the sport. Yes Tito we all know what you did and its great but you don't have to remind us of it every time you open your mouth.

These days, the MMA is as much smut talking as it is fighting. The fans would be foolish to perceive things said as anything more than fluff.

When the 'Martial Artists' start fighting each other in the streets, then we will have a better idea of what is really going on.

Tito shouldn't be too concerned about the treatment by Jon Jones. Jones has shown a total lack of respect for anything but money in the last few weeks.

PS you and the haters confuse Dana White and Jon Jones so much. Can't be much more absurd given one is white and the other black.

And if anyone would know what it feels like to be stabbed in the back it's Tito. After all those back injuries, he probably even knows which vertebrae the knife severed.

It's just one PR blow after another for Jon Jones.

Ah well, he deserves it for being so transparently disingenious in my opinion.

He pretended to have a character that he doesn't posess and now he's been found out.

Still a tremendous fighter though. Would love to see him take a beating, I just don't think theres anyone at LHW capable.

Cain or JDS could though, maybe the Reem.

Jon Bones Jones The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion

“There are a lot of people who still love and respect me, but right now it’s kind of cool to hate me,” Jones said.

“I do something and it’s the worst thing in the world. Then when someone else does it, it’s almost OK. Chael says all this crazy stuff, but then I say something slight and it’s like, ‘Oh, that was the ****iest thing I’ve ever heard.’ Dan Henderson called me a kid 1,000 times leading up to that fight and we never even fought. I call him an old man once and the whole world was like, ‘You freakin’ age discriminator. You’re such a bad person.”

“Wow. I can’t get away with anything and everyone else does pretty much whatever they want.”

It's ridiculous how much hate goes to the champ... No one will beat him soon... So all this hate is for nothing... Ohhh ohhh ohhhh .. But he pretended to be this, and pretended to be that... Ahhhhh rest your fingers..... No one is perfect including all of you... War Jones....

    Look at Jones' notable victories:

*He has the reach of a giraffe*

Shogun - embarrassing performance with ZERO gas tank

Rampage - a bum who's not even into fighting anymore

Machida - a middle weight who drinks piss

Rashad - by decision, and not that impressive

Do you think Jones will tear through the heavyweights like that?

Wait until he fights DC, homie. Cormier.

    Out.

It seems as if you give Jones little to no credit for those fights?

It's not that Rampage isn't into fighting anymore he's not into the current UFC- wrestling based format in which refs don't stand up stalled fighters as often as they should... He doesn't view a guy hold for a round as fighting....

Some fighters do tremendous damage in the ground and pound while others mainly use a takedown as way to secure a round a decision victory... I'm sure he isn't the only fighter that is annoyed with that....

U have fighters like Rory McDonald, that will take u down and pound u out and fighters like Ben Askren that doesn't even try to punch, just lays there, reminds me of when Charlie Brennenman beat Rick Story via takedown and dry hump.......

Stop talking Jon!!! Yes I'm a fan but how can you say something controversial in nearly every interview you do. If you were mute you'd be the most popular fighter in the game. But you're not so you're not.

I'm not understanding all this talk of how he should have fought for the company etc etc, this is an individual sport, sure people train in camps or with others but in the end it is an individual sport....

For people to jump to the defense of Tito after this article and still bash Jones for not taking a fight, let's remember while Tito was fighting for his right to earn more money as he says, he was also avoiding a title fight with Chuck Liddell whom defeated Vitor Belfort for the right to a title shot...
