Three Bouts You Don’t Want To Miss At UFC Fight Night 42

UFC Fight Night 42 is set to go down tonight in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and fans are holding out for the show to be as good as it looks on paper. With a fairly star-studded line up on the main card, and the prelims looking pretty cool too, there a three fights that you don’t want to miss in ABQ.

‘Nightmare’ vs. ‘The Real Deal’

Clearly this fight has the potential to be one of the best this year, and there are quite a few factors heading in to this clash of lightweight bangers; firstly, Sanchez says he is bringing back ‘The Nightmare’ for the bout against ‘Real Deal’, and that alone sets the FOTN alarm bells ringing. Secondly, the three-time fight of the year winner is competing on home soil, so expect an electric atmosphere for this affair.

Last but certainly not least, styles make fights. Here you have a hard-nosed, gritty and exciting former title challenger going up against a heavy-handed Brit that likes to keep things standing. The two combined make Sanchez vs. Pearson a scrap that you really don’t want to miss.

Flyweights collide

Former title challengers John Dodson and John Moraga will do battle right behind Pearson and Sanchez, and you know this one will be exciting. Both guys are fast, powerful and extremely entertaining when they fight; just take a look at Dodson’s slick knockout of Darrell Montague, or Moraga’s starching of Ulysses Gomez. A little known fact is that these two once did battle in a promotion called ‘Nemesis Fighting’, and Dodson won a unanimous decision that night in 2010.

Expect high pace, acrobatics and thrilling exchanges as these two flyweights represent the lower weight divisions at Fight Night 42.

‘Smooth’ takes on a ‘Tiger’

The main event of the evening may contain a guy in Bendo who has been criticized for being ‘Boring, and a relative unknown to the top flight Rustam Khabilov, but I think it has tons of potential. I expect to see a new version of Henderson as he not only battles to bounce back from the controversy of his last bout, a lacklustre decision over Josh Thomson, but also as he looks to make a statement for another run at his former title belt.

Khabilov has very strong Sambo and wrestling, and doesn’t lack power in his punches. Keep an eye on Khabilov/Henderson, as I have a feeling this one will surprise us.
