Stefan Struve Says He Is More Motivated Than Ever Ahead Of UFC 175

Entertaining Dutch Kickboxer and UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve has been inactive since being diagnosed with a heart condition last year. The prognosis didn’t look too good at first, but fans were happy to hear that ‘Skyscraper’ would make a full recovery, and is currently scheduled to face Matt Mitrione at UFC 175.

It’s likely that Struve is itching to get back to action, especially considering the fact he lost in his last bout. UFC Japan back in early 2013 was the scene where Mark Hunt hit a home run on Struve, breaking his jaw and claiming a TKO win. Loss snapped a four-fight spree for the Dutch heavyweight.

Check out what Struve had to say about the fight with ‘The Super Samoan’, as he spoke with Karyn Bryant:

I knew my jaw was broken, it broke 15 seconds before the last punch. I had no energy left because I had taken everything he threw at me. I should have won that fight, but my body just stopped. My trainer had to pick me up between rounds, I couldn’t think straight it was crazy. Now I’m better I can fight at that high pace, It’s an incredible difference.”

‘Skyscraper’ was often presumed to be a slow starter, but no-one ever thought it was a medical issue at play. Never judge a book by its cover I suppose. Check out the full interview podcast below, and stay tuned to LowKick.com!
