Shane Carwin out of TUF 16 Finale fight with Roy Nelson

You read it right, LowKick'ers.
The injury curse in the UFC continues, as Shane Carwin is forced to withdraw from his fight with Roy Nelson due to a knee injury. UFC President Dana White tweeted a news, also adding that the Ultimate Fighting Championship are now looking for a replacement.
Interestingly enough, MMAWeekly.com reported back in September that Carwin has injured his knee, but will still compete against Roy Nelson. "The Engineer" then appeared on Inside MMA, threatening Roy Nelson with a knockout if he goes for the knee:
“Yeah, I mean its bad,” Carwin admitted. “I have some partially torn ligaments and tendons, but I’m pretty positive in my strength and conditioning coach and I have faith in them to get me back to full strength.
I used to never let this stuff get out, but to me now a days it doesn’t really matter to me what they know, because I am going to go out there and fight him,” offered the confident Carwin. “If he goes for my knee I will knock him out then.”
Two weeks later, Carwin is out.
So who can step in to replace the former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion? There some interesting options for Roy Nelson, such as the rematch with Stefan Struve, and Mark Hunt. Stefan Struve is definitely an interestingly one, but it seems as many fans would love to see Hunt vs. Nelson, in what would also be an encounter between two fighters with the most unimpressive physique in the UFC.
TUF 16 Finale is currently scheduled to take place on December 15, 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
WOW!! It never ends Carwin blew his knee out. Looking for a new opponent for Roy on the TUF Finale on FX.

When the injury bug first hit we were all shocked by the numerous injuries but I think it's got even worse to the point where we aren't shocked at all,we just accept it as the norm - very bad place for MMA to be.
Your right, but at the same time it's really starting to annoy me. Fortunately we don't pay for the UFC in the UK and i know this fight was on fox, but for those who buy PPV I'd advise them to wait until the actual night to purchase because like you said it's the norm now. Sucks for those who buy tickets too.
Not going to change as long as they train this way.
The statistics of a fight being cancelled from a card because of injury would have to be around 1 in 10 fights, maybe more.
I'm not sure whether that is so different from football. There is always a guy on the bench injured.
can't compare this to football. MMA fighters dont have replacements to fight for them. a football game continues with or with out injuries.
let hunt knock nelson out!
MARK HUNT. you said it, homie.
hope so :))
Put Cormier in
ps. I think Carwin is done.
MK double shot
A bunch of noobs that don't even know what double shot is or KFC is.
It is getting old that most announced fights don't even happen.
Grey Maynard also injured, Jim Miller stepping in
I will never ever EVER shop at a spamming website like Netetrader.com.
"Sharp" me if you agree.
btw in case anyone is confused, there was a spam comment before, Troll's reply isn't to me haha
I belive noboby is that stupid, to get confused by that Keith, but I know you like posting at least 10 comments under every article, so it's fine.
i fkn knew this shit was going to happen after that coaches challenge....he landed funny with the long jump....i think it was just pure adrenaline pushing him to beat nelson on the final 400 meter....two heavy weights like them shouldn't have even done that....tooo much weight pressure on the knees...fkn dana just wanted see that fat azz get humilated..
Not sure if that is how he blew his knee (seems unlikely) but I did think the same thing about the choice of competition for coaches challenge.
Actually 400m should be easy for a fit HW. It's good to catch those out with bad cardio though.
I'll fight him.
Suprise, suprise ahhh now he can't do those Vada tests...
pat barry to the rescue. thats why joe silva put another hw fight in case one guy pulled out
I believe there is a link between connective tissue damage and long term steroid abuse... apparently the ligaments arent strong enough to carry around and move so much unnatural muscle over a long period of time...
Can one of the ufc historians please enlighten us on the average age of the guys getting injured? Im guessing another possibility could be that because its too hard to cycle the steds, they cant recover as quickly as they once used to - hence injurty...
True, false, possible... Im interested in your opinion on this.
cheers
The importance that steroid use has in causing injuries is not clear to me but I feel like most of these injuries are due to fighters not willing to take risks and avoiding a negative record which would eventually cause a drop out (mostly due to the entertainment values of the company.
Reminiscence of fighters a decade ago that would fight taped up, even taping both knees to confuse the opponent not to let them know where the damage really is.
@darejz
Thanks for the insight/ feedback
you gotta be kidding me....
forget the ufc injury problem, carwin has is own thing going on that really sucks cause theres not nearly enough heavy strikers in the game today.
Give the fight to Chael Sonnen, he'll take it
I'd actually give Sonnen a good chance against Nelson. Don't rate either of them much but i reckon Sonnen's style would cause major problems for Nelson.
Azzkika, are you for real? Sonnen does best against strikers with little ground skill. Roys strength is his bjj and iron chin.
It seems like the safest place in the UFC is in the actual octagon.. Who knew!..lol
Oh GOD! GOD !!! Next time before you gonna **** me ass a mma fan please lube me!!! First Anderson Silva, now this dude. **** this shit!!!!
