Ronda Rousey’s Ex-Manager: I Set Out To Make Her A Star And She Turned Her Back On Us

UFC women’s bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey has been embroiled in a contractual dispute with her former management team recently; the California State Athletic Commission ended the battle by ruling to release ‘Rowdy’ from her contract, much to her former manager Darin Harvey’s disdain.

Check out what Harvey told ProMMANow.com about the sticky siuation with ‘Fight Tribe Management’:

“””When I first met Ronda Rousey four years ago, she was destitute and UFC President Dana White was quoted as saying a woman would never fight in the UFC,” Harvey said. “I set out to make Ronda a star and prove Dana wrong. The results speak for themselves. Ronda is now a highly sought-after model, spokesperson and actress, not to mention the first and still reigning female UFC champion.”

Rousey is, without doubt, the most successful female MMA star, and may even be the biggest female sports star of all time. She helped pioneer WMMA, but it seems there are plenty of sour grapes on her former manager’s part. It looks like Harvey feels that Fight Tribe Management haven’t been paid their dues:

“Frankly, it’s pathetic, I am not a litigious person, but I never thought for a moment that once she made it to the top, Ronda would turn her back on us and refuse to honor her legal and moral obligations,”

Harvey even went on to say that Rousey was ‘destitute’ before he became her manager, and that she would ‘never have achieved such unprecedented success’ without FTM and Harvey. Although Rousey has been released from her contract, Harvey reveals that he will fight on and look for a private arbitrator to clear this whole mess up.

Has ‘Rowdy’ crossed her old management team, or is Harvey looking for money/recognition that isn’t actually owed to him? Rousey joins a long line of MMA stars that have been involved in court room drama recently, hopefully this doesn’t become too commonplace.
