Renzo Gracie takes out two muggers on the streets of New York City

UFC Veteran Renzo Gracie took out 2 alleged muggers last night as he was walking the streets of New York City. To add insult to the injuries of his two assailants, the Brazilian Jiujitsu Legend tweeted the entire incident.

In combatives and firearms classes, this author has often told his students the following paradigm: “If you look like food you will be eaten.” This tends to hold true in most areas of the world as criminals tend to prey on victims that appear to be weak or distracted. Apparently, Gracie’s attackers did not get that memo.

According to the 6th degree BJJ Black Belt, the two men started following him for a few blocks at 3:00 a.m., and  before they moved in, the fighter knew what they were up to.

Within five minutes the two assailants make their move as Gracie points out:

Then the altercation really starts:

Actually, New York City has banned the carry of firearms for over 100 years based on a law called the Sullivan Act and the current mayor is Bloomberg. At least this time, the good guy won.

    Good Job Renzo!!!

But food for the and you can thank God for having mercy on you that these idiots didnt have a GUN on them this time. Oh and by the way all the laws about Guns are for people like ME and YOu and NOT for a$$ holes who are criminals. They dont buy their guns from the store..they buy them on the street same as drugs. So the next time your thanking the politicians for gun laws, think twice because they are really keeping them from me and you......

Mike, irrespective of your opinion on the 2nd amendment, keep your personal opinions out of a news story. While I agree that Bloomberg is a douche, this story was about Renzo handling muggers, not your opinions on gun control.

This isn't CBS or ABC godsofwar - my own personal opinion on the matter aside, this is a mma website not top of the line journalism. Who cares?

We have a comments section below each article to editorialize all we like. And while this may not be a 'reputable' news organization, if Lowkick intends to actually present MMA related news, it makes sense to keep the news reporting and editorializing at least somewhat separate. Imagine if every news story on here came with a rant inspired by the opinions of the writer; that wouldn't make for particularly good reading, at least in my opinion.

I love this so much, but I hope he didn't screw himself with that last series of comments about going back and looking for him.

If a prosecutor wanted to make a big deal about it, and the douches wanted to press charges they'd have a case. Which is pretty sad.

Good points, sorry, guys. I removed it from the article.. But I completely agree with Renzo on this. Bloomberg frowns on legal self-defense, firearms ownership and MMA with equal hatred and the Sullivan Act was racist in nature and is blatantly unconstitutional.

The Sullivan act also achieved pretty much nothing in terms of curbing mafia related violence etc. The whole approach to reducing violent crimes in America is weird, introducing gun control while waging a drug war and doing nothing constructive about gang violence is ridiculous.

Very true, Sullivan was a gangster, himself, and made sure all of his buddies had permits. He died of syph a few years after that law was passed. The first people prosecuted under the Act were targeted racially from the Bench, as well. I only really went into this as Renzo made it appear as if Giullani was the cause. Rudy may have been an anti-gunner, but the fault lies with previous political hacks in that city

Okay being serious now.... I think this story is completely fabricated, and he is going through a mid life crisis or something.

I'd call BS too. Who would send out 7 tweets while they are being stalked by a couple of muggers.
