Rashad Evans Says Glover Teixeira Is Looking Like A Killer, But He’d Bet On Jon Jones

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will look to continue his win streak in the division when he hopefully returns this fall. The division hasn’t really moved too far in his absence, although UFC 172 in Baltimore could well change that. Jon Jones will look to make his seventh title defense against the dangerous Glover Teixeira.

‘Suga’ recently stopped by to talk with Bloody Elbow about his former team mate and opponent, check it out:

“You know that Teixeira is a big puncher with a lot of experience but he doesn’t have one crucial element and this is good movement. He doesn’t have the good movement that he would need to bring problems to Jones. I think Jones will win by being quick, being able to get out and get in, strike and get out of the way. I think Jones will get him. I think this fight kind of resembles the Rampage and Jones fight.”

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson was dispatched with relative ease by Jones at UFC 135, and the similarities between ‘Rampage’ and Teixeira are very hard to ignore. I’d say the main difference between the two is that GT is a lot better now than ‘Page’ was back in 2011. Evans continued:

“Teixeira doesn’t look like his balance is too good sometimes, like when he fought Bader he was drunk-driving like a motherf–ker in that fight. He got caught, he was dizzy. I think that Jones is starting to really starting to believe more… well not believe, because he always believed, but that last fight with Gustafsson shook him, so now he is approaching it from different angles. He will have a lot more focus. “

“Mohammad Lawal trains at ATT and he is a really good friend of mine. He has been saying that Teixeira is looking killer right now. I have heard that from a few different people now. But if I had $100 and was forced to make a bet, I would say Jones all day. I think he is going to finish him.”

Jones has been inactive since his war with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165, where ‘Bones’ took more punishment over five rounds than he has his entire career. He may not have much left to prove to everybody else, but there may well be an internal battle for Jones in the lead up to 172.

Teixeira has been itching for this title fight, and if he truly is looking better than ever, do you give the heavy-handed Brazilian a chance to win?
