Rampage Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira in works for UFC 153 in Brazil
Posted on July 9, 2012, 03:12 PM by Anton GurevichAccording to GloboTV (Brazilian TV network partnered with the UFC), former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, will return to the Octagon against Glover Teixeira at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will be Jackson's last fight on his current UFC contract.
Here's the original report on sportv.globo.com (translated with a $2.99 app):
"The UFC has officially confirmed with exclusively to SPORTV.COM on Monday, the first fight of the UFC Rio 3, held in October in Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian Glover Teixeira, unbeaten in 16 fights, will face the controversial American Quinton "Rampage "Jackson in the category of true duel-medium-heavy weights. It was not decided yet if the confrontation is the co-main event of the night, but he is already considered a big draw for the tournament, since it may represent the last fight of Rampage Jackson UFC."
Jackson is currently 32-10 in his MMA career, with two back-to-back losses to Ryan Bader and Jon Jones.
Mauricio Rua recently refused to fight Glover Teixeira, but it seems like the Brazilian heavy-hitter is good enough for Rampage. While Glover Teixeira is not a "big name" opponent, he's definitely a strikes who comes "to bang". Jackson stated on numerous occasions that he wants to fight strikers, claiming that he's not interested in squaring-off against "boring wrestlers".
Jackson is currently 32-10 in his MMA career, with two back-to-back losses to Ryan Bader and Jon Jones. Glover Teixeira is 18-2, with a victory over Kyle Kingsbury in his Octagon debut.
The fight is yet to be officially confirmed by the UFC.

Anton you cheapskate, if you'd used the $9.99 app Chael recommended instead of that $2.99 app, it would have correctly translated to light-heavyweights instead of "duel-medium-heavy weights". And I had no idea Rampage was entered into any tournaments.
I clicked "funny" :)
Hell yea. Rampage giving Glover the opportunity. Nice.
Even though I hate Rampage and want to comment on how I think he's going to get worked by Texeira, I have much respect for him being a man and stepping up to fight him unlike Shogun.
I would like to chalk this up in the "Who gives a shit" category IMO. It's time for Rampage to hang up the gloves. I agree with Matt... he's going to get worked. It just gets old listening to his long list of excuses leading up to the fights and after he loses.
YESSSSSSSS now this is gonna be a FIGHT!!!
Ya I really hope Rampage brings it - I'm always going to be a fan. He has given us some great fights I know over the last while he has had a hard time executing but true fans stay loyal.
I don't know if he is really not hungry anymore or what has happened but as a guy who grew doing several Martial Arts I respect his boxing skills( I would like to see his wrestling a little more tho). He has some of the nicest hooks in MMA. COME ON RAMPAGE!!!
I am excited to see this.
Sure hope this is a stand up war!
Bout damn time Rampage got an opponent who won't be afraid to stand and bang.
this is an amazing match. Rampage looses fights with ground attacks and although it is MMA watching two men wanna knock each others heads off is always entertaining. Big fight, Love it!!!
used to be a huge rampage fan, for many years but since his tv and movie offers, he's too afraid to commit to a fight...scared of damaging his face.
it's BS just to take a fight for the money, quit 2 years ago already and just bury yourself in hollywood...i'd at least want to see you on my screen...re-watching some old pride and king of the cage fights recently, man, you are so far from the warrior you once were.
It will be fun to watch Rampage get his A$$ beat by Glover, then retire, then be long forgotten.
