Poll: What’s Next For Ronda Rousey After UFC 190 Win?

ronda rousey vs cris cyborg next fight

Another UFC women’s bantamweight title fight, another convincing first round finish. Ronda Rousey was better than ever before, as she destroyed unbeaten Brazilian prospect Bethe Correia in a little over 30 seconds. The only ever UFC women’s 135-pound champion finished the fight with a straight right hand at the end of a relentless barrage of punches and knees, sending ‘Pitbull’ down to the canvas face first.

Correia’s flop is both indicative of how strong Rousey is, and how weak the rest of the division is in comparison. So what’s next for the undisputed female boss? There are a number of options, and likely at the top of the list where fans are concerned is a battle with Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino. The two have a feud that pre-dates the UFC belt which ‘Rowdy’ holds with such a firm grip, but weight and politics has always got in the way.

There’s also a trilogy-maker with old rival Miesha Tate after ‘Cupcake’s’ impressive decision win, but are we really that bothered by seeing Tate go up against the woman that has already beaten her convincingly twice? Outside of those two fights, the scope begins to narrow, but there are still a few options.

Staying in the women’s 135-pound category, Holly Holm is currently the most viable option. ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ is 2-0 in the UFC, but her number nine ranking only speaks volumes to how shallow the division is with contenders right now. Then there’s a speculative thought; how about moving in weight? Strawweight is likely too much of a push on Rousey’s physique, so she is pretty limited in that respect. Amanda Nunes is literally the only other top 10 ranked fighter that isn’t either coming off a loss or already squashed by the champ. Coincidentally Nunes beat Shayna Baszler in her last outing, who is one of the ‘Four Horsewomen’, so there’s a slight story behind that potential title fight.

She’s cleaned out the division, but would the UFC consider making another weight class now that there is probably enough WMMA stars to fill it? Super bantamweight anyone?
