Pic: Georges St. Pierre Declares His Knee Surgery A Success, Begins Road To Recovery

Any potential comeback that former longtime UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre may have had was put on indefinite hold when it was found out that “GSP” had torn his left ACL in training.

St. Pierre assured his fans that he would return to full strength the hard way, without shortcuts. But just what he was returning to was never clarified.

The MMA legend famously left the sport behind after his highly controversial UFC 167 split decision victory over current UFC welterweight champion Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks.

The beloved former titleholder was noted as saying that he may come back to the UFC even after the injury, but first many things would have to change. Although the topic in question was largely considered to be the UFC’s method of dealing with testing for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta recently stated that he was “on the same page” with St. Pierre about that issue.

However, regardless of how in agreement the UFC and St. Pierre are or are not, “Rush” successful surgery today, tweeting the following picture and message about starting his road to recovery tonight:
