In the fledgling UFC women’s strawweight division, No. 8-ranked Paige VanZant has sprung up as a potential superstar and a potential title challenger in the future. “12 Guage” has the looks, the charisma, and the skills to make it big, and it seems as if her next fight is set.
The Reebok-signed athlete will return to action next September at UFC 191 to meet unranked The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20 alum Alex Chambers. MMA Sucka first broke the news, while MMAFighting confirmed the date and venue.
VanZant is 2-0 inside of the Octagon, scoring a victory in her debut over Kaitlin Curran last November, and most recently dominating veteran Felice Herrig at UFC on FOX 15. She will look to continue her rise up the 155-pound rankings come September, although she may have deserved a higher ranked opponent.
Chambers on the other hand, is 1-1 in the UFC, losing to Aisling Daly at the TUF 20 Finale, but recently scoring an impressive arm bar victory over Curran in May, a bout she was losing up until she locked in the submission.
UFC 191 is set for September 5, 2015 in Las Vegas, but has yet to receive a main event. Can VanZant continue her hot streak, or will the underdog Chambers upset the odds?
